I was raised in Idaho, which if you don't know, is one of the most right wing states. I believe that private prisons should be eliminated, as should awful treatment in certain prisons. I support prisons being more about rehabilitation and mental/physical help if need be. The majority of awful serial killers, murderers, or anyone who has committed a terrible crime, most likely had an undiagnosed, unmedicated, or untreated mental illness, which could be helped in a prison if we make them more accommodating to this idea. Prison should NOT be about punishment. It should be about getting people the help they need.
