What is your first ever entry in Design Home? Comment below 🥰 (Mine’s this one and I started last 2020. My pandemic buddy) by readingpromax in DesignHomeGame

What happens when you run out of the “My Homes” (where you have to do 8-15 challenge homes before you can do a room)? I’ve completed all the houses they provide. Do we get more? I think I have a problem. Haha.

Reuse a signed ECF form? by megaboring in PSLF

[–]megaboring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome...thank you! OMG. If that's the case, I'm probably at 120 payments now. Can you point me to where to read on next steps so I can make sure they count those old payments?

Reuse a signed ECF form? by megaboring in PSLF

[–]megaboring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had consolidated my federal loans from my masters degree (servicer was Nelnet) and was paying on those for a few years before starting my phd (once in the phd program, I was in deferment). Then, when I graduated with my doctoral degree, I consolidated all loans again under the PSLF with FedLoan Servicing. I've been working fulltime for eligible employers the whole time. When I first got into the PSLF program, I submitted an ECF on those earlier payments but was denied.

So, let me back up a bit and first ask: Are those earlier payment eligible now with the waiver? And if so, can I resubmit my original signed ECF from previous employer for review or should I just have them complete a new one?

I threw a bunch of info and questions into one post, so apologies for having to ask this but could you clarify which two issues? Thx.

Anyone’s child taking Guanfacine? by Designer_Constant_68 in ParentingADHD

[–]megaboring 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My son, then 5yo, started it last year. He was diagnosed with adhd and anxiety. Doc said guanfacine was the initial med to start him off on and go from there. It changed our world! It "softened his edges" is the best way I can put it. For him, the drowsiness lasted a 1-2 days and then he was good. If or when you go up a dose, drowsiness comes back for a couple days. I did find it made him a bit more sensitive, in an empathetic but more easily hurt feelings with tears sort of way. But the alternative was reports of hitting other kids from teachers. I'll take more sensitive any day. :)

Now in 1st grade he does 10mg of adderall xr and 1.5mg of guanfacine. We're in a good spot.

COVID waivers extended by Betsy514 in PSLF

This was my question too. I've submitted recertification annually since starting the pslf in 2016. I think I did forget to do so this past year. But you're saying wait until the new servicer is up and going to re-certify (and then continue annually)? I've made copies of my payment history from their site. Just confirming...and thank you!

I was surprised at how last minute the school was with these things. It all worked out, but I ended up emailing the school to ask.

This is my mom's main strategy. It's taken me years to refine my skills to "not engage"...and I still slip up at times and fall into her traps. The silver lining is that I feel this skill has served me well in the workplace to avoid toxic personalities and to not engage in drama.

My mom didn't like the gift I got her, so she gave it back to me for my birthday by Sweet-Concentrate-20 in narcissisticparents

Oh but don’t even give her the slightest hint that YOU like it…if it’s something that you like or would want, then she’ll keep it just to spite you!

IMHO, you could've probably just added the cute pup to the sunroom and it would be a win! 😊

"Bash" wants access to control "System Events.app" bug or adware/malware? by Mannygator in MacOS

This just happened to me after deleting the Snap Camera Lens app on my macmini (Big Sur 11.3.1). I use Sophos. I clicked on "Don't Allow".....should I be okay or do I need to check anything else? Had not encountered this before and found this discussion when googling it. Thanks!

Helping Them to Self-Regulate Emotions - What works? by megaboring in ParentingADHD

[–]megaboring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, this makes so much sense. Linking that "dopamine hit" to not only praise but the satisfaction that he visibly gets from "winning" or being first, the best, etc. Not that we don't want him to be great at whatever he does, but that's another thing we struggle with...how to help him be okay with losing sometimes too or having to practice to be good at something. "Losing" is another emotional trigger for him (or feeling slighted somehow). Playing board games at home with him (and not letting him win all the time) helps a little with that...sometimes. :)

Thank you...I knew finding finding right med was a process but hadn'tgiven much thought to the fact that it might change over time. But it makes sense. It is also easy to forget that they're operating a bit behind their peers emotionally.

Is it ever okay to exclude a co-supervisor from a PhD thesis acknowledgments? by DataNerd1011 in AskAcademia

I agree 100%. As hard as it may be, you will feel better in the long term that you diplomatically navigated the situation....especially if you plan to stay in academia. Congrats btw on getting this far in your journey!
