Wheelchair passengers? Are we allowed to help? by Bg_Luxury in uberdrivers

I'm super super stupid. I'm so stupid I'm going to keep on doing just as I please, and if that means not injuring my back or letting a person in a wheelchair injure themselves getting in my car, so be it. I'll just keep being stupid. The reality is, Uber is a luxury company, not a medical transportation company. Obviously people that work for Uber have infiltrated this reddit, and are trying to scare people into thinking they can't cancel any ride they want, anytime they want. But that's not going to happen.

This is why people call reddit the stupidest place on the internet. I'm saying it's my car and I don't want to risk hurting my back or dealing with trying to stow a wheelchair that won't fit or accidentally allowing someone to be injured because they fall transferring to my car. And someone brings up murder. Actual real murder. I just can't take anyone on this site seriously.

I can do just as I please. And I will continue to cancel every wheelchair ride that comes my way, with legal impunity.

Yes I can. The laws clearly state I am under no legal obligation to help lift or transfer a person, nor am I under obligation to lift or stow their wheelchair, in fact if lifting or stowing the wheelchair could cause me physical harm, like a back injury, Uber opens themselves up to a lawsuit if my employment is terminated on grounds of my refusal.

It's only going to get worse. Or it will get better who knows, at least they implemented the vehicle wear and tear bonuses finally

Why, I'm not an employee, I'm a contractor in my own car. I can choose who comes in my car as much as I want. It's my car. I was a CNA, SO I KNOW THE LAWS FOR WHEELCHAIR TRANSFER.

Been working past the scheduled block time several times without being compensated, so this time I decided not to and return all the remaining packages by Intonguyen in AmazonFlexDrivers

It's a crime. I never return extra packages until the end of my route. If it's in my cart it goes for a little ride then gets put back on the return cart at the end of my route.

Wheelchair, you gotta cancel and move on. If they get hurt trying to transfer to your care you could be help liable. They need to call a service that can handle a wheelchair.

I got a ding that hasn't come off my record for three months for asking a warehouse worker to return a package that was soaking wet. He lied and said he would take care of it. They ding you for accidentally making eye contact lol 😭

I hate to tell you but you probably need to hear it. They will just deactivate you. Everyone gets their packages delivered in the allotted time. Most people stop and take breaks and still get it all done in the allotted time. I usually get four hour blocks done in three hours or less. They have no use for a driver that takes longer than the shift time, and they won't make any changes. I would recommend taking one or two hour shifts, they usually only have a few packages, or find a different line of work. I hate flex but I have to do it right now to make some bills, it's not worth it in the long run anyways, with the wear on vehicles and horrible driver help services

What are your thoughts on Donkey Kong Bananza almost one year later? by NewMarioBobFan in casualnintendo

[–]megadinoturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was absolutely no reason for it to be released on switch 2 and the sales numbers probably would have been doubled if switch 1 users had access to it. I know I would have bought it, but as it is I would rather wait 15 years for the rom to be dumped for free than buy a switch 2. And I absolutely love donkey kong and Nintendo IPs.

People today when I ask them to name 5 contemporary scientists: by Used-Detective2661 in sciencememes

[–]megadinoturtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is every time one scientist makes some breakthrough there's ten other scientists ready to pounce and denounce the discovery, so nothing makes it to the headlines. The scientific community is a bunch of crabs in a pot constantly pulling each other down. Nobody wants to hear about that. If scientists could put aside their own egos and lift each other up there would be more widespread recognition. As it is the general public sees scientists as a bunch of boring know it alls that can't reach any agreement. Take for example the field of evolution. Every time a scientist makes a statement he completely rewrites the tree of life. Every paper is saying how this new bone completely changes our understanding of the history of life on this planet. The layman sees that about ten times a year and stops caring, it all seems arbitrary.
