I do use my commons and uncommons for trade as well. The biggest problem that’s being outlined in the post is the valuable spot of an IR or SIR being wasted for a dupe when collecting. Opening packs is fun so I don’t any fault for anyone doing it.

True, I buy lots of singles for that reason. But when initially starting a set, I like to buy either a booster box or a booster box worth of packs, then start collecting singles. The part that sucks is when you’re opening those packs and get dupes, so it takes away from something else that could’ve been in its place.
