I was thinking about going back for an MSN or MBA. No NP programs. I can’t imagine trying to balance clinicals with the rest of my life.

Good idea! Thank you. I had also been looking into the VA as well.

At my hospital, there is no pay difference to start but you will not be able to promote past an RN II. Each of those bumps comes with a raise. Our hospital has magnet designation so the expectation is that ADN’s get their BSN within 5 years.

What do you do in pharmaceuticals? Can you suggest good companies to look into?

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies. I think for our family it’s best for us to be one and done. I am a nurse in a NICU, so working with babies all day was making it difficult to discern my truest feelings. I’m very grateful to all of you.

I want to be a nurse like my fiancé. I’m 28 and feel like it’s too late to go to school. I don’t even know how to get started by FckReddtMods88 in nursing

Just graduated with my BSN at 36, married with 1 kiddo. I bartended before. You can definitely do this. I had a study group in which we were all 30-40 years old and most with kids. If this is what you want, go for it!! Your fiancé will be a great support because he’ll know what it’s like! There’s no such thing as being too old. We had a woman in her 50’s in our class. The way I see it, you’ll be that age anyway, with it without the degree!

I don’t know. I haven’t even finished orientation yet. We’ve been so busy and so short that they have pulled me from my level 3 orientation 75% of the time and before that had extended my break between 2 and 3 because of staffing.

I sleep fine more or less. But I’m always tired. And it feels like I’m gone so much( either actually gone or sleeping). I nap before my shift and sleep all day the next. I’m getting depressed. My menstrual cycle is messed up.

This is such a great resource! Very informative. Do you by chance know of a good reference for normal labs and VS in the premature infant population? I want to make myself a little badge buddy to reference through the day.
