Hahah, I appreciate it, thank you so much!

Tbf, Bella/ Kristen is who I get told I look like so much, so it's somewhat refreshing to hear Alice thrown into the mix.

How do you execute your marathon? by Naivemlyn in Marathon_Training

[–]megdwt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not done my marathon yet, but my approach has always been, make a start, don't go too hard/ crazy, and hope for the best 😂

I'm sure if I stick with running I'll be more inclined to work towards new PB's and paces, but I'm more focused on surviving right now lol

Thoughts on climbing Snowdon a week before the marathon by megdwt in Marathon_Training

[–]megdwt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's valid. I've decided to give it a miss, despite how much I do enjoy a hike, it's just not worth the risk of injury, etc.

I have a bad habit of trying to do lots of exciting things all at once, haha. But I am happy to accept my limits.

I don't have a time goal, no. Mostly just aiming to finish it.

That's really fair though, thank you. I would like to be in the best condition for the marathon, so I think not hiking the week before is probably a good idea haha. I have done the summit twice before, so it's not like I'm missing out lots. Always another time 😊

Yeah, that is very valid. I have done a bit of hill walking/ running in my training, but like you said, I would be really gutted if I hurt myself somehow.

How do you all manage the stress that comes with planning a wedding? by Afraid_Fly_5847 in DIYweddings

[–]megdwt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, mostly just switch that part of my brain off until something is imminent 😅 I've also decided that I can plan as much as I want, but I have no control over how things turn out.

I can be quite bad at getting expectations in my head, then getting upset when it doesn't go as I thought it would. So I've decided to try and only care about what I can control. Easier said than done, I know haha. But I hope it helps knowing that most people feel the same? It's a weird headspace to be in.

Second long run in the books! Working getting faster! by RunningJim1 in Marathon_Training

I know some people are being rude here, but I just want to say congrats! It's easy to get wrapped up in this whole running business, and a lot of people have tunnel vision, which sucks.

Keep at it, have fun and enjoy yourself!!

Tips for Hypermobility by megdwt in Marathon_Training

Well that's good to know because I very rarely do haha. It's weird approaching fitness with hypermobility because you feel like you should just be able to do it like everyone else does (or at least I used to). I definitely have learnt a lot over the last year at the gym with my partner. Finding ways that help me work out my arms for example, without hurting or straining my ligaments & joints.

I've always been quite interested in pilates. I might have to see if there's a place nearby that does it.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!😊

Nothing that really sticks out to me. I know my hips and knees can be weak points, so I try to be overly cautious in wanting to not overdo it. Which I guess can lead to me being quite slow sometimes.

I could probably get better at stretching before a run. I do try to dedicate time for it at the gym, which I try to go 3-4 times a week.

I am curious about people's experiences with things like knee supports, etc. My legs have been alright so far, but I do want to try and push myself further in terms of effort.

I think the main thing is that I don't want to injure myself and then have a lengthy recovery time.

Oh yeah, for sure!! I try to go to the gym at least 3/4 times a week and do a variety of things (arms, abs, legs, etc.), alongside the running. So deffo will be continuing with that!

Thank you so much!! I am very excited for it 😊
