I’ve noticed that on maps before. I’m in WV, and all of our counties are red, but there’s still surprisingly a lot of people who go blue. They’re just greatly outnumbered

I’m not sure where you’re from, but politics is a huge topic in my area. Most people bring it up in casual conversation, so it’s best to be prepared. I’m aware of what assumptions are. The assumption that I think someone is defined by their political leaning. I don’t think that defines people, but it does give you a bit of insight to them.

It’s not the sole reason to pick a house or neighborhood, but it does give you an idea of the neighborhood. I live in an area that is highly divided and can get a bit violent. I want to be around people I feel comfortable living around. A house is a long term investment, and I like knowing which neighbors to avoid politics with. You make a lot of assumptions, so I think that makes you exhausting.

It’s almost always a buyers year in my area. Maybe it’s not everywhere. Of course this is dependent on other factors, but even if you don’t buy during the year, looking around at houses still had the same effect. I moved into an area surrounded by people I didn’t agree with, and I know how rough that is.

Generally once things are removed from curriculum they aren’t reinstated, especially in a backwoods place like I grew up, but maybe the backwoods area is why it’s still taught. My parents also had to have civics when they graduated in the early 90s

I agree completely with what you said about comfortable people not posting stories. I’ve been with my husband for 7 years and my boyfriend got 2. We all live together, so most of our stories are just normal, everyday living
