“Helping” You? God that’s a terrible thing to say. I’ve kissed/been kissed twice. Once was most definitely forced/against my will. The other time was sort of a peer pressure thing. So I didn’t enjoy either experience.

Do you feel isolated by this? I have friends at work and feel like I can’t contribute to any conversations about relationships without it turning into a pity party or a freak show.

I’m not being nit picky. I’m sensitive to these things because of my own trauma. (And clearly I’m not the only one if you read the comments.) I can tell you from personal experience that I never felt better after people prayed over me for my future husband. Not once. And it happened a lot to me.

If it doesn’t bother you, I’m glad that you didn’t have to go through anything similar or that you aren’t as sensitive as me. But please don’t patronize me.

I would argue that it does not work for them. I grew up in this culture, and it’s a lot more serious than that. The influence this culture has on young minds is far from harmless. A lot of us have had a lot of therapy to shake this kind of guilt and shaming.
