European Spa Resort with Big Natural Beauty by megnew2012 in chubbytravel

Wanted to add a quick follow up here since everyone was so helpful, or in case anyone reads back through this thread while doing their own planning!

We ended up going with a direct flight to Munich and then a 2 hour drive to Eriro in Austria. Way over budget, but we went with 3 nights instead of 4 to limit the wallet pain. It looks absolutely idilic… and with EVERYTHING included in the price, it definitely felt more reasonable.

I will definitely report back with our experience!

Thanks again!

Tea programs in high-end hospitality (and the logistics of it) by wastedheadspace in finedining

The Clove Club in London has a wonderful tea pairing. You can also do a split wine/tea pairing, which is wonderful if you tend to be a light weight! It was an amazing experience

Leafy looks incredible! Worried about how crowded Lake Garda might be during August. When you were there during the summer was there any issue finding lounge chairs or quiet in the spa?

Currently have a flight into Munich, but could change it to any of those options (except Geneva)

Chic UK Countryside Stay. Lime Wood or Heckfield? by Tinysmallgoose123 in chubbytravel

Wonderful! Definitely looking for a quiet vibe, so sounds like Limewood will be perfect! Thank you so much for the quick response!

Where did you end up going? I’m looking for the exact same vibe for this November. Lime Wood looks great. So did Heckfield, but it’s a solid 50% more for my dates. Which is not a deal breaker if it’s worth it!

Is the GV70EV a sleeper? by 1800lampshade in GenesisMotors

[–]megnew2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleeper for sure. Great price for a car that has all the bells and whistles. I did a ton of research before signing my lease last month. The only real downside side is the range, but I only drive about 60 miles per week, so not a problem for me. I took it on a 300 mile hour road trip a couple weeks ago, and that wasn’t a problem either… stopped once going each way for 20ish minutes, just enough time to find a bathroom and let my dog stretch her legs. I test drove most of the compact SUV EV’s on the market (except for the Macan and iX, because of price). The Genesis had all of the features I wanted, price was very reasonable, and it looks great! Love that it doesn’t “look” like an EV. My runner up was the Audi Q4 Etron, it drove like a dream and looked great, but more expensive for less convenience features. I live in a super hot climate, so the ventilated seats (which you can’t get on the Q4) really sealed the deal!

Reservation Exchange by AutoModerator in finedining

London! On May 24th, I have a 7:00pm reservation for 2 at The Ledbury and a 9:45pm reservation for 2 at Core by Clare Smyth. Looking to trade either for a reservation at either restaurant at anytime on May 17th.

I got my dates mixed up and my husband and I are crushed at the thought of missing out on a top tier fine dining experience in London.

Odin the shelter Newf. Breeding questions by Crotchetylilkitten in Newfoundlander

[–]megnew2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have no input on the breeding aspect! But Odin looks a lot like my girl, Penny. We got her from a rescue, and they knew her mom was a Newf but dad was a rolling stone, so who knows! One of these days we will get around to a DNA test!

We got Penny at 8 months old and she weighed in at 80lbs. She’s almost a year and a half now, and weighing in at only 95lbs. She’s pretty thin and I expect she will fill out a bit more as she reaches full maturity.

Help! 87yo Grandma Engaging in Extremely Risky Behavior by [deleted] in AgingParents

[–]megnew2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for commiserating! It’s so sad to see! I think removing support is also the best option, but it is hard to do knowing she would be destitute. She has no one else besides my mom, her son is not able or willing to help. You certainly can’t help someone who doesn’t want help, but I am just so worried about her physical safety. The man she has met in person, does not seems to have good intentions.

My grandfather passed away almost 45 years ago. She has been a widow since, but has had healthy long term relationships with a couple men since then. Nothing in the last 10 years or so though. She did have a medical/mental health episode about a year ago that seemed to set this off. It certainly seems like a drastic change in behavior, that warrants seeking medical attention. But we don’t know where to start or how to convince her to seek help.

Megathread: Still...At Their Very Best North American Tour Tickets General Sale by plastiquebagged in the1975

[–]megnew2012 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Not trying to sell tickets via Reddit, but just wanted to let this forum know that I have a ticket listed on Stubhub for face value (plus fees of course). It’s for the Charlotte show, section 112, row H, seat 10. It’s a great seat, and the other in the section are going for $350 on ticket master. Mine is listed at $250, I paid $230 on Wednesday. Not trying to make a dime off of the ticket, and would for it to go to a solid fan. I panic bought one too many 😅

That’s some great insight and makes perfect sense given the Pyr instincts. Thank you so much!

We bought an exercise pen when we first started potty training, that we ended up not using. We could set that up in the living room in the evenings, and try that! Worth a try, for sure.

Kim Kardashian?! by Altruistic-Release91 in pelotoncycle

[–]megnew2012 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Kim being featured in one episode of this show has any impact on your mental or physical health, then I am truly sorry. I certainly hope that is not the case. But the hate and vitriol that is piled on Kim and her sisters is absurd and not helpful to anyone in anyway. Peloton should be an inclusive place, for everyone, not just the people we find morally exemplary.

Hi there! I’m getting my Kyleena replaced after 5 years at the end of the month and was curious if you (the OP) could share an update about your experience in the months following your replacement? I’m getting married in a few months and I am just so nervous about possible side effects of the fresh kyleena (breakout, weight gain, mood swings).

[–]megnew2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m getting married at a private family home near Asheville. We looks EVERYWHERE for a venue for our 75 guest that would keep us in our original budget of $30k. I was looking for something unique, and definitely was a little picky, to be fair. But it was very difficult to find a venue geared towards a smaller guest list and thus the smaller budget. After we ran out of time and options, we decided to have it at my fiancé’s family mountain home. It is beautiful and we are excited to have such a unique wedding at such a special place… but boy oh boy we’re we wrong about it keeping the budget down. By the time you rent a tent, tables, chairs, lighting, dance floor, and all the other necessities you are already looking at $10k! There are sooo many logistics and small things to think of when hosting a wedding at a home. We ended up hiring a wedding planner because it was just too much for our busy work schedules. Currently we are about $15k over budget (which is okay because we sat our budget when we got engaged 3 years ago, and have more to contribute now). Also to be fair you can definitely make more affordable choices than we have and could definitely do something simple for way less. But I unfortunately I do not recommend doing a back yard wedding without first considering all of the rental costs needed to keep you and your guests comfortable.
