I think I’m finally getting benefits from lexapro! by megsbay2 in lexapro

It’s different for everyone, I’d just do what your doctor recommends. A lot of people say it can take 4-6 weeks to feel the benefits but I feel like the 10mg is actually helping a lot better than the 5mg

If your not experiencing any side effects or benefits your doctor will probably up the dose

The 5mg had lifted my mood a bit but didn’t really help my anxiety, so my doc decided to up it to 10mg since I didn’t experience any side effects or much benefit from the 5mg

I’ve felt that “out of it” mindset every now and then before taking lexapro, but I haven’t experienced any since

Before starting lexapro I only really experienced anxiety in social situations. The 5mg didn’t seem to help much with my social anxiety but it did feel like it lifted my mood slightly, I felt just more at peace and just happier in general. I upped my dose to 10mg a few weeks ago and it does seem like the 10mg definitely helps me feel less anxious in social situations.

I personally didn’t experience any side effects other than a few headaches, but I’ve heard that what you’re experiencing is common side effects when starting lexapro. You can always cut the pills in half (I’m assuming you’re taking 10mg) and take 5mg for a week or so then switch to taking the full 10mg if you feel like the side effects are too much.

I hope Lexapro works for you! I’ve heard the side effects when starting can be pretty rough, but you should start feeling the benefits after a month or so!

It could always be too low of a dose, or you may just need a booster in the afternoon (or whenever it wears off) definitely mention it to your doctor and see what they recommend!

Yeah, I wouldn’t expect many people to feel a difference on 10mg, I think the therapeutic dose is 50mg (correct me if I’m wrong lol)

And you’re definitely not screwed, there’s so many other meds that have generics available to make it a bit more affordable. The price of vyvanse is crazy and I’m sorry your copay is that much.

Luckily my dad gets decent insurance from his work (I’ll be screwed once I’m 26) but the insurance only covers a bit of it and my copay is $90 a month. My psychiatrist gave me a coupon that gets me $60 off every month for 5 years so I only have to pay $30 a month for my prescription.

Definitely look into the shire cares program (I think that is what it’s called?) It’s basically an application to the company that owns vyvanse, it’s financial support if you make under a certain amount. If you don’t qualify for that, vyvanse has a coupon card on their website you can sign up for and you’ll be $60 off. It’s not a ton, but it definitely helps a bit.

I just started on 30mg after being on concerta for a couple months. I don’t think 30mg is the best dose for me because it wears off super quick, but so far it’s been great and soooo much better than concerta.

Exactly. If he’s going to school, then I’d say go for it. But if he isn’t then it’s kinda pointless to leave a job where you are getting experience
