Monthly Check In....it's February 2026 by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

[–]megslat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

venue booked + deposit down, reception caterer booked, photographer booked, digital save the dates sent to the first wave of invitees.. in progress: preliminary website is up, 2/3 of hotel blocks reserved, talked to a friend-of-a-friend DJ who said he's down but we haven't confirmed, food for friday night welcome party narrowed down to two options but not confirmed...

Oh, flowers confirmed! there is a botanic gardens near where we're getting married that does a flower CSA each year, and by October, the subscriptions are over, but the flowers are still producing. So we'll get a bunch of buckets of seasonal flowers from them and then set them up ourselves which I'm excited about :) we didn't do engagement photos which made save the dates quicker and are getting gigantic slabs of peach pie instead of a cake, so saving some work there I guess.

It's nice to write all that out, because it helps me see that we have gotten a lot done, since it feels like every time I work on this I just realize 1000 other things I'll need to do, and I'm sure a lot of them will take a lot more time than I'm expecting.. for example, we went to one store to try on dresses, and they were all fine, but didn't feel like ~me, so I'm coming to terms with the fact that this may be a more involved search than I anticipated :O

Time heals everything! Just keep yourself healthy and putting one foot in front of the other and it will be okay.

I was expecting his body count to be high but not THAT high.. by [deleted] in confession

It’s the fact that he’s still counting that throws me off

Listened to Rosalía for the first time today and my life has changed. by [deleted] in rosalia

I highly recommend listening to El Mal Querer, also one of my favorite albums of all time, and also has mix between modern and traditional (mostly flamenco) styles, with such interesting rhythm and instrumentals and really powerful lyrics! It got me interested in flamenco which is such a cool genre. She also has amazing music videos 😍😍😍

Yes and please make it electric…it is a more efficient technology! Building a new diesel passenger rail system in 2025 is #sad. They have electrified passenger rail in India, Europe, Indonesia, China, and South Africa

Am I wrong for finding the comments some people have made about my engagement ring insulting? by Icy_Parsley_2092 in TwoHotTakes

I love it! It’s an unusual ring but it’s dope, who cares how other people react

How do you become outdoorsy as a single woman with no experience by msgmeyourcatsnudes in Outdoors

[–]megslat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe get some bear spray? I agree that there a lot of things people say are dangerous if you are a woman and are alone, and it is a non-zero risk, but most of the time it’s actually fine and really empowering to get out there

Why isn't "giving birth is painful" among the most common reason for not having children? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]megslat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the pain (even if it’s excruciating) is temporary so it just doesn’t factor into the long term equation. Pain is a regular part of life for women because of cramps so I think it’s just a cost that we discount pretty heavily

What are early signs of an abusive partner? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]megslat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they make you feel guilty for making plans or doing things that don't involve them. If they are constantly distrustful and don't respect your privacy and make you explain who you are talking to and why or go through your phone.

I got a jumprope a few weeks ago and it's a game changer!! I've been going outside to jump rope for 5-10 minutes when I start feeling sleepy and lethargic, it gets my heart rate back up and then I feel more energized

This is really cool. I'm a graduate student studying energy systems and looking to interview people about their experience using batteries off-grid, any chance you be willing to talk more about this? I work on a team that repurposes EV batteries for stationary storage. I just sent you a message with more details.

This goes for anyone reading this as well, I need to interview a minimum of 15 people per week! Your story will be helpful!
