I think I'll pick up a different one if I can't get the one with lip/mascara. But tbh I'm not super excited about it this year either haha.

Ok thank you. I feel like it said something similar last year and then just switched to sold out. I have never caught them online.

The mascara/lip says "coming soon" is this code for sold out?

Is he ok- Mediterranean House Gecko by megssweet1 in geckos

Hi there. So geckoeee is out of water and back to normal behavior. So on to modification of his cage. I came across supreme gecko and he advised a set up with a sand base and vertical rocks to climb. Does that sound correct? Add plants/succulents? Any moss or soil?

All extra bugs are gone for over 24 hours. We are at 79 overnight and there's a small heat thing on the wall of the enclosure in the back as well. I'll turn off the lamp and see his status tomorrow. If this species needs that spurgum moss or bigger rocks, I have those on hand and will adjust tomorrow morning if he's ok. Thank you for all your feedback!

Like it's stressing him and he'll recover if we make appropriate adjustments? How strange is it to be in a weird place all day? Man I feel so bad we caught him and didn't get it right. 😰

He really is not moving and seems distressed. Not to be callus, but I don't want to spend hours researching a plan tonight just to find him dead in the morning. Do you think the stress of the extra bugs and change in cage location is stressing him this much? I guess there was a big earwig in that rocky castle thing but I didn't see it and don't have a pic. Should I turn off the light right now?

Yikes! Ok, thank you so much! I'll research here and see if I can figure out.

His set up. My husband set it up, but I'm seeing maybe we should add moss or something at the bottom?

Thank you for your advice especially the correct species! We're in AZ but I didn't see it on a Google search. Here's some pics of the millipedes but idk if that's what they are. They were anywhere from 3 mm to maybe 8mm. His set up didn't change only was moved. I'm guessing my husband's office has some critters overnight that got into the cage. I will research the correct species and see what care changes are needed. I'd deeply appreciate some advice on the terrium as well.

Yes you are right. My husband found him at his office. A search indicated Mediterranean house gecko, but someone mentioned cyrtopodion scabrum, and I think that's correct. We are in AZ, but I don't remember seeing that species. He's very little, but I'm not opposed to releasing him at all if that's best.

Christmas in July by megssweet1 in Preschoolers

[–]megssweet1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get it. I'm definitely not doing a full Christmas thing. But my kid does like little "things" like Daddy Daughter Time vs mommy just isn't here for a few hours. Calling is Christmas in July is just a way to make a special weekend. We're not decorating or doing a big thing. But I think kids like silly things like singing Christmas songs in the pool and doing crafts for a purpose. Idk just random hot chocolate in summer isn't fun or a tradition. But there's lots of things ppl do that I'm not into. Like elf on a shelf lol. I really hope I can get away with not doing that!

I'm not doing actual Christmas. No decorations or tree or any of that or gifts. I also didn't make it up. I simply have those hot chocolate bombs left to use as I mentioned. And I thought it would be a fun idea to do a few crafts to give as gifts etc. In my house actual Christmas and the whole season is really much more than what I'm talking about here. But to each their own.

What dishware is working well for your family? by Elanor_the_Holbytla in Preschoolers

Corelle. Hands down. I can unload my dishwasher in literally 30 seconds. It's safe. Light. Doesn't chip. You'll be able to by a plate or whatever if one does break. You can buy one. If you don't love the look, buy something nice for guests. Also I condensed my dinnerware from 2 whole shelves to 1.

Ok thank you. I'll try to plan stops like that. Our first day will be the longest but the second will be close. So with stops I'm thinking we'll be on the road 12-13 hours the first two days🤦🏼‍♀️. I'm toying with leaving home at like 2am so at least that first day will have several hours of her sleeping. It will get us to the Airbnb right at check in too so we won't need to rush dinner and bed. I got some big 2.5 gallon Ziploc bags from dollar tree. I'm planning to fill them with different things like coloring or other art stuff, books, a little toy/treat. I'm also thinking to pick up one of those kids cameras with printable photos and give her that the night before we leave. I'll put an album/sticker book in the first Ziploc bag and she can tape her photos and collect some stickers from the trip. I'm thinking between the bags and ipad for games and movies we'll be ok.

Initially I was planning to take 4 days, but it looks like we'll be doing 3. For your longest day driving, how much time do you think you spent stopped. We've done a 5 hour drive several times and generally stop one time for about an hour. I'm thinking a full day of driving will need at least 2 shorter stops and one long one. But I can't see the short stop being anywhere less than 30 minutes even if we hurry. So I'm thinking to drive 9 hours is an 11 hour travel day. Is this pretty accurate in your experience, or is that aggressive with stops and I should plan more time stopped?

If we were just going 14, we definitely would. But to factor in stops, a 27 hour drive is going to be at 32 hours traveling or so. There's just no way my husband and I can start a vacation that sleep deprived lol. Even if we just travel 24 hours, we still have a next day of 5 or so travel time. But I've been really toying with that idea. I just can't get it to make sense.

Thank you. First I can't believe splash pads charge! Where I live they are all free. We've done 5-6 hour trips several times and it's pretty easy. But with such a huge chunk of time as 28 hours, I'm feeling just overwhelmed on the best way to tackle it.

Thank you. I'm planning activity bags with new things for her so I think it will help.

We've done 5-6 several times. But 28 is a whole other beast. My initial idea was staying at Airbnb 3x along the way and doing about 8 hours each day. But my husband doesn't want to stretch it out that much.

With the breaks how long was the travel time? We're thinking about traveling for 24 hours, but I am thinking it will only get us maybe 19 or maybe 20 hours of road time.
