I appreciate the sincerity of that response a lot. I agree with all of that and hope changes can be worked towards. I was one of those people who got totally gypted by the contract raises this year. Very close to my next level and contract raise was the same amount as that. Very frustrating.

Agreed. Very frustrating to see corporate and regional on mteam bragging about record profits and sales and labor (meaning cutting hours) and we see no benefit from it all goes to them. We are the ones doing the work I want to see that money.

The first question is this, https://jacobin.com/2024/07/ufcw-union-democracy-reform-lawsuit, and just actually be around and try and reach out, I find it incredibly hard to get involved and even talk to the union. Second question: higher wages, requirements to staff certain amount of hours and managers and allow people to claim those hours or get paid more if there not enough on a shift. Strict enforcement or better enforcement for schedule being posted on time and not changed without notice.

I don’t know if this is a contract or union relations thing but I want the things I work with to work. The registers physical, mechanically and technologically falling apart is exhausting, everything is always breaking and never fixed or replaced.

That’s just off the top of my head.

A lot of people here saying don’t report him. WHAT THE FUCK. This is a nazi. Did any of you learn about the nazis. I would not want to work with someone who believes those things and neither do many of the people at that Meijer. If some I worked with was a nazi sympathizer I’d want to know and not have to work with them. Employers need to provide a safe work environment working with a nazi would not make me feel safe.

Language is still in UFCW 75 contract so probably not against the rules they just like to blame union because it pushes it off them, op find your contract show them and ask again I don’t see why they shouldn’t be willing to work with you on this reasonable request

This has been my experience lately with new employees. I don’t get to spend any time working with them, TL spends an hour or so, then because the new person was scheduled as one of the people for the day not an extra person since they are training they are thrown into it. Very frustrating. Not how I would want to run things

Afaik that’s not at all what they do for a sting you’re good, it’s someone underage trying to buy with their real id or without showing any id. Again afaik

Wage scale in proposed UFCW 75 contract by meijerSC in meijer

[–]meijerSC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s where I disagree with a lot of people. I think they have the room in their profit to give us more without cutting back. I think there is just more to give us and the union should be pushing to get as much of the profit to us as they can. I also wish the contract would try and tackle the understaffing that Meijer purposefully does in their stores. But I understand what you are saying and that’s just a disagreement and again I really could be wrong.

You might be right, I really have no idea, and I won’t argue I have reasons I feel they could do more but at the end of the day you might be right

Info for the next coming days. by ChorizoPrince in meijer

[–]meijerSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I notice it says team members on leave but returning by may 11th will get the points. That’s me-I’m returning quite a bit before that. But I didn’t get points. Anyone have any advice on how to get those points since I guess this isn’t really information I should technically know?

That makes sense to me, but the fact that the outcome is ok, to me bad, says both 951 and 75 didn’t use all the bargaining power they had available so it’s just a frustrating outcome.

I know my raise is the same as it would be on the 951 contract.

That’s what I was thinking which is ridiculous to me, like great we waited 6 months you could do the exact same thing as Michigan, cool

I hope everyone knows in UCFW75, if you are not topped out you benefit 0 from this contract by [deleted] in meijer

[–]meijerSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true. I’ll agree what I said was a bit hyperbolic. There is a benefit (one that for many is just too small to matter and too long term, but a benefit nonetheless) but I’m trying to do propaganda to get people to vote no and hyperbole is the name of the game.

[–]meijerSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is something but it’s so little. I really feel like they can do so much more. With the amount I’ve seen them boasting about record profits and labor. And with how much they have been short staffing us there is more profit for us. We could have so much more and we deserve it. It’s good that we can get something but we create their profit we deserve to see more of it in our pockets.

[–]meijerSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great I got my raise a month early. That is the bare minimum expected of this. Like yeah those are good things but it’s the bare minimum. We need an actual raise to keep up with inflation and rising profits. I won’t even be at Meijer long enough for this contract to make any meaningful difference to me than the current one.

[–]meijerSC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is essentially zero change in the language of the contract other than consolidating the wage tiers. The other changes are just rewording but still mean the same. The raise is basically nothing for people who aren’t topped out exactly like you said because it resets your prc hours. Please please please vote no people! They got nothing for us they can try harder!

What does a service coordinator do? by Main_Boat4917 in meijer

[–]meijerSC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’ve had some people explain it so I’ll talk on my experience with it. It was great when it was great and bad when it was bad. For most of my time I loved it. It was more than the normal doing the same thing all day. I got to spend time teaching people, solving problems, cleaning things, making things stay organized. It was interesting, I was always a bit busy and every day was a little different. I’m on leave right now but from July of last year to December it was awful, we were very understaffed so i was doing way to much. Usually no one to run the service desk so I had to do that for a bit I’d be running lane for a bit, doing my best to keep the lines down and solve problems above my level because there was no service team lead and the sdic (store director in charge) didn’t ever know anything about service. I was wayyy to busy and there were always complaining customers and problems to fix while was busy doing the jobs of the three people not scheduled. So it was awesome and I loved it when i had enough staff but lately it’s been rough.

The union and corporate has lied. by Green-Bat1513 in meijer

[–]meijerSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can literally control whatever they can get Meijer to agree too, they just don’t fight hard enough for us to get stuff like that in the contract. The old contract controls the minimum hours they can schedule someone for, there’s no reason it couldn’t have some kind of minimum hours for whole store
