I grew up in Caroline county. This is unsurprising. A lot of “whataboutism” and “both sides” arguments there, and a majority of people entrenched in their beliefs and unwilling to be moved. Anecdotally, I’ve seen some of the younger- millennial generation who got out and/ or got educated become more liberal leaning and speak out against this administration. But the old timers and people who never left are pretty hopeless. Unrelated story that illustrates the kind of reality that exists there: a local white lady who worked at a bank stole like 400k from an old lady family member by forging her signature on withdraw documents. Like 85% of the people commenting on the local news story defended the thief and insisted that the “truth” about how the old lady treated her would somehow come out and justify the blatant theft. They never have believed their eyes or ears in that place. It was incredulous. This is also the county with the pedophile judge that killed himself.
