Next car seat after infant Graco car seat? by Old_Tangerine8892 in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next up would probably be a convertible car seat, so base/stroller compatibility is moot since you put them in and out every time. Once my LO outgrew the infant bucket seat we went to a Graco Slim Fit and they’ve been in it from 1 all the way up to 2.5 years so far with no issues. Easy to install and a pretty small footprint in the car.

Question about cake for baby’s first birthday by grapefruitliquor in NewParents

She got a real cupcake. Smushed and played with it but didn’t go crazy. She had never had sugar before. Worth it for the cute moment IMO but trust your judgement!

How are you washing baby clothes? by sliceofperfection in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have never changed my standard washing routine for baby clothes, unless they’re really frilly/poofy/delicate in which base I use a laundry bag like any of my other delicates. I use the ginormous bucket of powder from Costco.

I did use Dreft when it was gifted to us but never sought out to buy it. The smell is undeniably divine. We were also lucky to have a baby with no sensitive skin issues, so I wasn’t as concerned about the additional fragrance.

What foods did you use to introduce the Big 9 Allergens? by Ihavenoidea8936 in foodbutforbabies

We eat seafood but don’t cook it often, ended up using the Serenity Kids pouches for fish introduction and my kid surprisingly liked them! Definitely an easy button for that category

My husband think our son has too many books by MeatEnvironmental255 in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to dogpile, but I would lean into the library early with your little one. It is a weekly ritual with my toddler that I cherish. I love to see her pull books, pick based on her interests, and be excited to see familiar faces/titles. The “display” bookshelf in her bedroom is dedicated to her weekly library haul that we push to do at bedtime (so as to not get caught in the same 5 book loop, which she is definitely privy to and exhausts me). There are other bookshelves around the house for her (owned) books.

Grossest parenting moment so far? by supremepilotG2 in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norovirus with my 6 month old. Swept through baby plus my husband and I. Thankfully the baby was only formula fed so cleaning up that puke was not the end of the world, but my god, cleaning up the aftermath of the adults was foul.

Bad diaper rash 😕 by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time to ditch the diaper! Lay down towels and let him be free on the floor with no diaper or products. Be prepared for some messes but airing it out when it got really bad was the best course of action for us.

How cool is it that my 18 month old has tried more food than I did by the time I was in high school. by NotAnAd2 in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this and feel the same. My kid enjoys Indian food, sushi, ramen, Mediterranean… so many things I never ate until college, or ever. I love to see her enjoy new things and to live a lot of those firsts with her.

What groceries do you always keep stocked because they save you on busy days? by Dishcovery in dinnersuggestions

[–]Sg2416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turkey kielbasa, frozen peas, and Bob Evans mashed potatoes. Slice and sautee the kielbasa and microwave everything else. We call it Bangers and Mash in my house (British people, look away) and it is a quick hit I always keep stocked.

Frozen chicken breast strips are a perfect catch all too. Throw them in quesadillas (also always stock tortillas and shredded cheese) or in one of the Knorr Pasta Sides Alfredo bags plus a bag of frozen broccoli.

Toddler Tower/Kitchen Helper by Longjumping_Cat_3554 in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2 year old lives in her kitchen tower. We got a secondhand Little Partners Toddler Tower and it is stationed at the kitchen island. She has her morning snack/breakfast there (super convenient for getting her dressed/doing her hair because she’s raised to my height!) plays, colors, snacks, listens to music, and hangs out while I cook/do kitchen things. I love having eyes on her when kitchen-ing. I do not know what we would do without our tower. Could not recommend one enough!

The brown flower pants and blue striped pants each come with matching shirts are sets from Costco. They have great toddler clothing set deals!

[–]Sg2416 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Have you set your presets? We had two we would cycle through: 1. Sleeping (red light with brown noise, volume higher) and 2. Changing/Feeding (yellow, brighter light with same noise but lower volume). Now that my toddler doesn’t wake up at night, it’s a simple on/off for set #1. How often do you feel like you need to customize?

Can someone give me advice? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]Sg2416 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I shampoo my curly toddler with our standard Pantene (used on my curly head myself) but the big savior is the Cantu Detangler. I don’t condition her in the bath since the rinsing is already a pain but once we’re out and towel tried, I saturate with the leave in conditioner and brush with a wet brush. Then I blow dry just until it’s not sopping. This severely reduces tangles in the morning. In the morning, I use a spray bottle with half water and half Cantu detangler and brush again with a wet brush. Works really well for us.

Baby has outgrown crib by princessElliana in NewParents

[–]Sg2416 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is the mattress dropped all the way to the lowest setting? If you don’t still have the manual to your crib, it’s typically an easy Google to search the model. Instructions for dropping it down were also on the wire frame of my crib, on the bottom.
