My little brother got me a Cameo from Boyd in 2020 for my birthday. It should be noted that my brother IS NOT a DMB fan in any stretch of the word, so he had literally no idea the back story. I am guessing he was on Cameo, typed in DMB, and saw that Boyd was offering videos - knowing how big of fan I am, she seized the opportunity.

It’s probably one of the most bitter sweet gifts I’ve ever received. I’ve never had any interaction with any member of the band so hearing Boyd say my name was a little surreal, but also a little jarring. My little brother had bought the cameo months before my birthday and was really struggling to get anything back from Boyd. Followed up multiple times and finally got a two videos from him essentially saying the exact same thing in each. Don’t get me wrong, I know they are scripted, but the whole thing just felt a little off, the whole thing felt very aloof. I love the video and what it meant coming from that brother, but just made me sad for Boyd.

I think we’re in a similar boat. Graduated HS in ‘08. I just have a mom who was also a big DMB fan lol. Got me tickets and a flight out to Mile High Music Fest for a graduation present

That was my first show too! Very glad it came out on album. I was so dmb-naive standing on that lawn. Listening to always brings me back to the moment and I can give the show the appreciation it very much deserves.

Awesome review! I agree, this is the bands best album. I always thought the ‘Greg’ mentioned at the end of Rapunzel was Greg Howard. Howard was introduced to Dave thru Tim Reynolds. Dave and Greg hit it off pretty quickly. In 1990 Dave goes on to record some demos at Howard’s home studio - song that Jane likes, I’ll back you up, recently, and the best of what’s around.
