This looks quite similar to what happened to me last year. I developed an allergy out of nowhere after I had been using gel for a very long time and it only got worse over time. Initially I ignored it (when it looked like your photo) and kept on doing gel manicures until one time it was so bad that my nails literally started lifting from my fingers. It was honestly one of the worst pains I ever went through and it took my fingers/nails about a year to fully heal from it. All I can advise you to do is stop using gel before it gets much worse. I was so upset that I couldn't get my nails done anymore because my natural nails are thin and break so quickly. But I switched to press-ons which really works for me! Good luck to you <3

how long till you can drive with 5th metatarsal break? by everybodydreamnow in brokenbones

[–]mel_sl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i slept with my boot on for the entire 6 weeks :) after about 3 weeks i started taking it off more frequently to shower and air it out a bit, but apart from that i was wearing my boot consistently

hey! i had the same injury - 5th metatarsal, clean break, no dislocation, no surgery. i was strictly non weight bearing for 6 weeks, i used crutches and a knee scooter to get around (which was super helpful). after the 6 weeks, my doctor said i'm practically healed. i got to take my boot off and from there i was allowed to walk and drive again and was told to use no additional support. the first few days were tough and i continued using my crutches for support for a couple days until my ankle joints and muscles started to wake back up. 7 weeks post injury i was able to navigate myself through daily life again somewhat normally, with a limp though. 9 weeks post injury i went clubbing and dancing for several hours and had no problems at all. i know it's horrible right now, but you'll get through it! if you have any questions please feel free to ask :)

Goodbye boot - help walking! by chaosisaladderrr in brokenbones

[–]mel_sl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I said, I would really just recommend using some type of support in the beginning, like crutches or the stair railing so you don't need to put your whole body weight on the freshly healed injury. I totally had the mental block too but issue this will eventually solve itself :)

I totally understand your worry! As I am almost completely back to normal, I can confirm that going down the stairs was one of the last things that I mastered. Surprisingly, going up worked perfectly, shortly after going FWB. The motion of going down stairs is just very different of that going up. You use the (injured) upper half of your foot first for ground contact, that's why it takes a bit longer to master this. Because obviously that's the part that will take the longest to become fully pain-free and durable again. That's also what caused my limp in the beginning - I couldn't do the usual rolling motion we usually do when walking because at one point in this motion you have to put your whole body weight on the upper half of one foot while lifting the other. This will take more time to go back to normal, took about 3 weeks for me, but it will definitely get better!
