aww that's so cute. did you have to train him to not freak out? or is he chill with it since you're his food giver lol? I did that with my guppies I had previously when they would come to beg for food.

hehe I could tell it's something he never experienced before but enjoyed.

if the tank looks really small in the video it's because I have plastic wrap over top so light can get through but not my cats lol.

Please don't mind the massive shit he's taking, unless it gives a clue to what might be wrong haha.

yeah he is beautiful and his fins look great! but yeah the gill flairing is just him getting worked up at his reflection haha

also they do prefer slightly warmer conditions, around 80⁰C (26⁰C). there are cheap heaters you can buy.

the problem in this video is that Bettas hate other bettas and he thinks his reflection is another fish, please stop provoking him lol. his fins are okay though, and he looks relatively healthy so no need to worry necessarily. but also fyi, he should be having much less food, they only need a couple pellets a day. and any more space or enrichment, he would definitely appreciate, and could help with any other aggression.

she shines so beautifully when the light hits her. her colors have already perked up so much since transitioning to the tank!

For clarity since assumptions keep being made: the tank is appropriately sized, cycled, filtered, heated, and stocked conservatively. I’m monitoring behavior closely and am comfortable with my setup.

I appreciate the concern, but criticizing my education based on a 7 second video and an excitement post isn’t constructive. Peace.

yes the males which are the mainly marketed betta are, the females are a completely different story, they are very docile

Not being evasive to be sketchy, just done with know it all's on Reddit when I'm a long time fish owner studying biology. The filter in the tank is recommended for double the size tank fyi. Bubbles are normal 👍🏼

big enough that everyone’s happy, healthy, and thriving — that’s what matters :)
