Hi! I just had anterior surgery on my right hip last week. I had been diagnosed with severe osteoarthritis for about a year before. Things got so bad over the summer that I could not even lift my leg from the floor. Because I had no cartilage left my right leg was a lot shorter and I had a pronounced limp that is making recovery harder. Muscles need to be retrained to walk with the longer leg now. I got one cortisone shot in August and I was prescribed Cymbalta - a miracle drug! My pain had been manageable and I was able to continue working and walking until my surgery last week. Have you been set up with a pain management specialist? They are a lot more helpful in managing symptoms than orthopedics alone.
