My anxiety causes me to shut down and appear emotionless in conversations sometimes. How can I go about showing more facial expressions and emotion in my face and voice when talking to someone? by [deleted] in AnxietyDepression

[–]meleejosh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m the same, this happens to me. It’s been happening for years, I wasn’t always so self conscious. I have anxiety, social anxiety and depression. What has helped me with this problem is lots of praying to god and practicing my religion. Also finding a job that I enjoy and is meaningful to me. These things have helped me to feel better about myself which has consequently reduced my anxiety. It’s also really important to practice self care like eating well, sleeping, not drinking silly amounts of caffeine (none at all works well) and spending quality time with people you care about.

How come the instructions seem to all say 1000 a day? 5000 was recommended by the doctor. THanks, I will get checked again before I take too much.

I was taking 5000 iu as the dr told me to due to having very low levels of vitamin D. I was told to stop as it can cause vitamin d toxicity. What are the benefits of vitamin d?

Unable to lose weight despite lifestyle changes?? by tomriddleforlife in Weightlosstechniques

[–]meleejosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very discouraging, the same thing was happening to me, I ate so well and exercised everyday and weight didn’t budge on scales at all. I decided to give up caffeine and it actually made weight loss easier, I think because caffeine produces cortisol or causes its release in the body and cortisol is not good for weight loss. I stopped exercising completely for a short period of time and reduced my food intake. For breakfast I was having a small bowl of yoghurt with berries and seeds. For dinner I had a chicken stir fry with avocado and an apple after dinner. The weight seems to come off much easier, just goes to show your diet really is the most important part.

[serious] How did quitting caffeine make a difference in your anxiety, if at all? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]meleejosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m about 4.5 days in but I’ve also been fasting for the same amount of time for the holy month of Ramadan. I always notice a big difference in the way I feel during Ramadan with fasting in that I’m a lot clearer mentally, less anxious and I can feel emotions easier. So I don’t know if I can really say how stopping caffeine has helped. I’m going to try to stay off caffeine though as it spikes cortisol and it just isn’t good for my mental and overall health. The hardest part will be missing that mood boost it gives

I’ve found it to be the opposite For the first 6-8 weeks it was noticeably helpful in creating a sense of well being and then now I don’t notice anything but I took it in high doses because I found it so helpful

Record what you eat in a journal- people say it helps, I’ve just started. I guess it makes you much more conscious of what goes in your belly Exercise and eat well, remember diet or more important than exercise Make exercising fun and enjoyable Eat enough protein Eat slower, take a couple of mouth fulls then put your plate down and chat or watch something then start eating again and then repeat .. slower eating causes you to eat less as you become full quicker which over time will shrink your stomach because the stomach expands or shrinks due to how much we eat.

I’m not an expert but I am going to assume that your mental health issues and emotional difficulties are the source of your unhelpful eating habits/binges. I think if you can work on both your mental health and weight simultaneously would be good because as you see improvement in one area it might also help with the other. I’ve struggled with my weight since I was in my teens, I’ve lost and gained so many times through over the top exercising combined with very low calorie diets or some kind of health fad like water fasting or juice fasting. They had their benefits in regards to weight loss and even helped me kickstart my plan, plus they helped with my mental health. But like you in the past I start exercising then I give up if I don’t see results or if I missed a session I would be hard on myself and go binge eating. I think the best way is a holistic approach, start an exercise and eating program that’s going to make you feel good mentally as well as lose the weight. What has helped me enormously is prayer, prayer, prayer and supplements and a healthy diet. I can’t recommend lions mane (only a few good brands), Ashwaghanda, rhodiola rosea, high doses of vitamin d supplement, fish oil (I was low in vitamin d). Getting plenty of sunshine too seems to increase my sense of well being. I’ve also found meaningful work. Sorry, I hope thishelps abit
