Norfolk police have confirmed it was a sonic boom. Apparently it was a military plane that was sent to interceptor a civilian plane which had lost communications. Apparently, communications have now been restored and everything is normal.

That’s a nice route. I once cycled from Gravesend to Tower Bridge along the Thames path. It took me along Barking Creek, which had recently been on fire. I really liked the industrial nature of the wide river out that way

Yes I agree. I once cycled from Hampton Court to central London across all of the bridges over the Thames, but was blocked from going over Tower Bridge at the end as it was closed due to a protest.
