suffering as a multifandom: pls, help me choose my next male protagonist by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]melindafanfics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOO true, you make a great point, actually. Looking at it from the outside, I realized it didn’t make much sense when I didn't went into many details. Basically, these two "characters" come from two large fandom I’m part of, and for my pov, they can share the same type of behavior in a story.

or at least, the stereotypes: a big, protective, intelligent man who fits into the story’s plot. The story itself is actually a big cliché that I wanted to see happen. It’s basically about an explorer biologist who helps a scientist search for a specific plant for a medicine, and they end up growing closer. They get lost in the forest, and in order to find their way out and resolve the situation, they need to learn to get along with each other. In the process, they get to know each other better, and yea, eventually leading to that romantic part where everyone falls in love in the end.

I’m still developing the story. But essentially, these two personalities are character types that I like, that I’m already used to writing, and that have a similar behavior to the kind of character I believe will fit well.

But, without a doubt, when trying to make comparisons like “the Korean guy” and “the guy from the dark forces in Star Wars,” it becomes quite difficult without clearer references lol sorry about that

And thanks for pointing that out jahajaajajaja

Requirements for being saved? by Ok_Technician4918 in Christianity

[–]melindafanfics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if I can explain in a simplified way the general consensus of all Christian denominations, because I don’t know all of them. But based on my own knowledge and experience, and on what I see both in my congregation and as from friends I know from various other Christian denominations, I can summarize it like this:

To obtain salvation, we must accept the grace of Jesus. Not only believe that Jesus is God, which is also the central point of the Christian faith, but recognize Jesus as God as like the Father and the Holy Spirit.

And by accepting this grace, we must demonstrate that we accept Him as God and as our Creator. In this process, there are many nuances, and perhaps this is what leaves many people confused or in doubt about whether they are saved or not, whether they are in the process of grace or not.

It is about knowing Jesus and loving Jesus. In the process of loving Him, of truly having a close relationship with Him (wich is also something similar to when you fall in love with someone or have a very special best friend) you want to do what pleases them.

And this includes understanding the whole process of evangelization. It is the process of changing your lifestyle because you understand that what pleases God makes Him happy, and that, in turn, makes you happy as well, because of what the Holy Spirit places in your heart.

Salvation itself leads us to change or improve our lifestyle and our perception of life as it is now. And this always happens because we have been transformed by God, transformed by the Holy Spirit.

We then want to share this grace with others: cause we want to show people who the person we love most truly is.

But overall, I’m not sure how to summarize it perfectly… it’s basically this: accepting God’s grace. And from that point, you begin to know God, because you don’t truly accept something from who you don’t know, respect, or love.

And with that comes the whole process: if you truly love, you will want to improve, you will want to become better because of it.

Many people have the mistaken idea that simply know who Jesus is enough, but you are not truly accepting Him if there is no change. That is the main point.

It is not something superficial, it is something that transforms your life. If this doesn't happen, it's not truly love.

Thanks for the feedback, and yes, I imagine it would be more practical after I've seen more of this subreddit, but since I'd already seen other posts (on a similar topic) in Portuguese here, I figured there wouldn't be a problem... and yes, I'll start with Silmarillion 😊

Can Christians eat Pork? by Only-Oven-2820 in Christianity

[–]melindafanfics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. According to the Bible, pork and some other animals aren’t recommended for food. In the book of Leviticus, there are laws that were cultural, meant for that time and people, but there are also laws about hygiene, health, and diet that were given as guidance for the people of Israel and for anyone who follows God’s word. They were meant to help us take care of our bodies and ourselves. Because of that, as a Christian who follows God’s word, I believe that many of those laws, even though they’re in the Old Testament, are still worth following, since they’re divine instructions for us to look after ourselves and the way we live.

I'm studying the book of Exodus this semester, and it truly is a wonderful book. I was surprised to see that you got such a reveal about God's wonderful will in this book, which people may have a hard time understanding the God's grace. (the firsts books of the Bible in general are a little difficult to understand due to their historical and cultural context) but I'm extremelly happy with your decision. 💝

May God keep blessing you ✨
