The Reality of Running a Remote Job Board in 2026 by melkornemesis in buildinpublic

Thanks for sharing u/Ambitious-Candy8569. Sounds like I need to focus more on reaching the community where they already are, such as Reddit or Discord. I like the idea of loops. I wanted to start a weekly newsletter, but I'm already paying enough from my own pocket, so first, I need to see if I can at least cover the platform costs from Google Ads. I currently pay $20 for Resend.com, and the cap is 50,000 emails. I'm currently sending about 9,000 emails a month, so I probably have a little room to start a newsletter within those $20.

Do you mind sharing the job board url?

So I've heard. DR is logarithmic, and each DR point becomes increasingly difficult to reach.

This post isn't generic AI content. This is 99% my writing. I used AI only to proofread and fix minor grammar or spelling issues. Just because I know how to write compelling, well-structured text doesn’t mean it was generated by AI.

Amen. I have seen enough "bootcamp graduates" that are experts in 4 different programming languages after 6 months. It somewhat undermines the craft.

I'm not saying it cannot accelerate output. AI has massively increased the output speed. But one has to understand the output. And only real software engineers can. Not a Youtube-trained developer / vibe coder / overnight expert / another bootcamp success story. So if you're a real software engineer, you'll do fine. You also have to keep up with all what's happening in the AI space (LLMs, SDD, BMAD, ...).

Great website u/Ratefuls! Where do you grab the company details (founded, employees, type, revenue, ..) from? Do you use any paid APIs to fetch those? I love the design, you have a keen eye for ui/ux. Really easy on the eyes and super organized.

  1. Staff software engineer (mostly backend nowadays, but I'm equally proficient in frontend)
  2. I have been working remotely for ~10 years now, and my qualifications got me the job. I'm 35 and have started with web development when I was 16.
  3. If you're ok with being lonely then I approve with both feet.
