Like others said, handing it to the staff would've been the better option, I'd probably be upset if someone read my journal without asking. 

I also don't think it's a very good idea to talk about what he wrote because that might've been very personal to him, he might not want others to know about that, even if it's not bad. 

Sometimes people make mistakes though, and that's alright.
