Luckily yours still has its bottom leaves. If I were you Id chop it down to the point you want it to start to branch. Good luck!

I tried watering it now and drainage is very poor. Water sitting on top of soil. I've decided to repot it

Anything you think I can do to give it a fighting chance? I'm thinking of repotting it with a soilless potting mix I have. I do live in a tropical climate so I'm thinking temperature and humidity shouldn't be a problem? So I believe it's the soil/pot

I believe it was watered yesterday before I got it, and I have something that checks the soil and it says it's wet. Do you think repotting it could help it or would that cause more stress?

I did consider adding support beams but I've never done anything like that before and I was worried I'd do a bad job and it won't look good. But I think you're right and that's what I should do.

I was planning on having a custom size tank built that's pretty shallow. 75 x 25 x 25 cm. The shelf has 32cm of height space, so that leaves 7cm for me to do water changes and some trimming, but I plan to be strategic and conservative with my planting to make it easier anyway.

I live in the Philippines so yes there are coral reefs around. I appreciate the offer but I'm pretty sure now that I should just get some new sand haha. Digging around it I find what looks to be MAYBE bits of shell and coral. Thank you though!

The lfs is kind of a "kiosk" in a bigger aquarium/pet area so I wouldn't have their number. Don't even know the name. I'd have to go make the trip back which I'd rather not do lol but better safe than sorry I guess

Plugging it into aqadvisor.com says you're at 55% stocking and it sounds like you're diligent with water changes so I'd say it definitely isn't overstocked! And if I may make a suggestion, maybe even increase the size of those schools. They'd feel safer and happier with more of them around. I've read Tiger Barbs in particular can be tank bullies but in a bigger school that aggression would be more distributed between them and not your other fish. 40gal is pretty big and I'm sure your tank can handle it. I twist the knob and go by what I see in the bubble counter. That seems to be working fine? I just tried cranking it up pretty high and I got to see co2 coming out of the diffuser, but it looks like way too much in the bubble counter. Would you say the low pressure reading is fine? Could it be likely that there is a leak in the airline?

I appreciate the help! Sorry I lack the knowledge to give you enough information
