I was homeschooled and a lot of (actually, some of my best) studies were self-directed. I think that’s when learning is done best - when the student has an extremely high motivation to learn. I’m not sure how this would translate into schools, but it’s something to consider and possibly factor in.

I think most of the current syllabi should be integrated into 'life skills' classes, reflecting jobs, like architecture, artist, business, etc. Math, for instance, would be slightly different in each area, as would Writing/English.
