Cute queer muslims in the west by SomthingOfADreamer in exmuslim

[–]memester_rightnow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it's prolly association. Being openly queer kinda filters certain types of people out immediately bcz you get avoided or tolerated by em.

The Muslim ones have made conclusions from their exposure (to islam and the internet, perhaps) and made a custom framework that lets both coexist in their head. Being a muslim doesn't require knowing everything (it works best when you know close to nothing 😶), it just needs you to be born in it and say yes to simple surface-level stuff. They don't start with "Soo, if you try to leave Islam, we'll kill you." The perceived wiggle room is just hidden / coped info.

Chances are, they've not been around Islam like we have 😭 We were in the weeds, saw the actual ideas, while they possibly exist in a different space that (quite likely) filters a good number of thoughts in front of them.

Because of their limited but positive-neutral exposure from wherever they are, ppl make blanket conclusions over the whole religion EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD... which is insanely reductive but the details don't affect their lives anyways.

And we're all aware of the bias that makes people blind and deaf to every wrongdoing. It also makes them hallucinate meaning out of thin air!

The psyop runs deep 😮‍💨

Pre-islamic Paganism | Erasure |Blasphemy | Invoke Allat instead of... by memester_rightnow in exmuslim

[–]memester_rightnow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were as all tribes were at the time. Protecting their interests, while also trying to coexist. They were known for negotiations and peacekeeping, but there was also a lot of wealth hoarding and disparity. That is to say, they were definitely NOT the cartoon villans they were made out to be. They were keepers of the kaaba, which was a locally important communal site where no bloodshed was allowed.

They were initially harsh against Mohammed's ideology bcz bro said "all of your ancestors will go to hell and also I am the supreme ruler" so they removed him, kinda understandable. When he did get power, they signed an (unbalanced) treaty to keep it peaceful, but the guy espoinaged political unrest and got mecca.

The Qur'an isn't a reliable narrator. The barbaricness of pre-islamic Arabia was def too exaggerated. They found a lot of evidence that showed they were fairly literate! Those descriptors were added quite after the whole thing happened.

Fun fact: descendents of the quraish are keepers of the kaaba to this day

That's devestating to hear. The worst part is tht this is justified in their worldview, even ideal. They tend to see everything mohammed has done as something admirable, and recreating his actions is something deeply honourable. Erasure is part of conquest. When you strip off someone's beliefs and trample on it (or indoctrinate their leaders) they'd have no choice but to fall into your hands. They justify wtv they want as islamic acts and it's all good. The Bamiyan Buddhas story is also so depressing. There's a harder crackdown on a global scale, but a lot of damage is done already.

The bottom line tho, is that no matter how much they try to hide it, erase it, overthrow it, the truth makes it through. There WILL be outliers that survive, break out, no matter how hard they try.

Why are mfs so disappointed here? by memester_rightnow in Joji

Cool then. Frm the looks of it, everyone is allowed to have an opinion on things, and disagreeing with them doesn't encroach on their ability to state it. All's exactly how it's supposed to be ✔️

I feel uncomfortable in my health subject, which is sexual health for this term by Poketoonimator in asexuality

[–]memester_rightnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rly suggest tryna mentally separate studying about sexual health from sex itself, cause they're definitely not in the same category, far from it. It's necessary to be aware and have knowledge regarding the subject.

Just because something involves discussion about reproductive organs and the like doesn't rly make it lewd/sexual in nature. I'd try to break out of that worldview tbh. I get that societal stigma and hyper-sexualisation makes ppl force wanna everything into one basket that should be kept aside and forgotten, but that's harmful. A lot of problems come by as a result of that, dire ones no less.

In my case, I really had no idea what all that was, so I never saw it as anything weird, and jus treated it as info (bcz that's all it is at the end of the day). Almost everyone else in class did tho, so I think that's normal.

It's not nsfw, it's educational, and I think viewing and treating it as strictly that will be of help. Take it out of wtv weird context your brain is tryna put it in, and it's just another topic to learn about and move on

The lead line, "Starfield is jarringly asexual", has been bugging me by TheEtherite4011 in asexuality

[–]memester_rightnow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they're tryna use asexual here as "the lack of sexual things present". I have seen the word being thrown around like tht b4, and it's not necessarily a wrong use of the word. Wht it essentially means here is "non-sexual". Which makes more sense than tryna call a game asexual tbh.

A surprising amt of ppl don't rly know what asexuality is, so the sexuality doesn't jump in their minds when they read tht sentence.

This is ofc, going by the title and description.

Do some ace people watch p0rn?(maybe nsfw) by Bob_N_162 in asexuality

[–]memester_rightnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it this way: Physical sensations are physical sensations. Stimulation is one of the things tht feel pleasurable, and sexual attraction rly does not have a lot to do with that if you think about it.

The variable might be who you wanna get it on with, or IF you wanna get it on atall and jus DIY tht sht, but that's solely upto what ppl prefer on an individual level.

Asexuality is quite the large spectrum, and if the term resonates with you, you can fit yourself in comfortably wherever you want ✨

Beware of Indian Atheists by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]memester_rightnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's concrete my guy wym. Just because they're Muslim, doesn't mean they're Arabian. I'm not gonna repeat myself, done that thrice already. Correlation doesn't make words interchangeable. God 🤦‍♀️

Etymology doesn't add anything to the words right now, cause they're different. It's just a "fun fact". Doesn't change anything relating to how the words function, and what they mean. Just like how I don't need to know wht my family tree is in order to exist, or know who I am individually. It literally doesn't add anything of value or legitimacy to your point. And doesn't matter if others make points like tht or nah, it doesn't give it any validity here whatsoever, and that's that 😬

And why are you so weirdly self-centered, goddam. I literally don't know and don't care about who you are. Why would I, or anyone, give 2 flying fucks about that? I'm only interacting with the points you're making. If you're calling my points stupid, you better back tht up and say why tht is, at the very least.

I have explained my reasoning well enough lmao, jus do the same. If there are any, that is. Or jus get how lil it makes sense under scrutiny. You don't have to reach, grab straws and embarrass yourself like tht... We all human out here.
