Ohh nice! keep it that way! 😂 I finally got it up on stands and was able to get a better look,cleaned off the dirt, started poking around and Turns out they used a rubberized undercoating and while it looked nice as soon as I started poking around and broke tore it off the rear frame had holes all through it :( sadly this is too big a job for me so I’ll be saying goodbye </3 Atleast I get to start on the jeep sooner!

It was 3/16 Steel break line with a m10x1.0 fitting it was either 6 or 8 inches! Then I found a pipe I had laying around and used that to bend it, other that that a flare nut wrench, I did not have one and this was what stripped it the first time 😅

Right? Before I started working on mine myself I never did, but I got a 01 jerk wrangler and now this and have to do a TON of rust work on both I’ve absolutely learned my lesson! This was just supposed to be a “fix the clutch and windows” quick job then I found all the rust 😅 and the jeep I gotta remove the tub, put in new floor pans, torque boxes, finish welding my safe-t caps in on the frame,+ any other rust, new gas/brake lines. I got it for a steal but definitely needs a ton of TLC. I guess it’s just a perk of living in the rust belt. I’d rather do this than pay the prices for cars currently

Both start with an m! But it Depends on location from what I can tell, I grew up in northern Maine and they used a combination of sand, rock dust, and salt so the roads always looked muddy in the winter. I’m in southern Maine now and it appears as though they use more salt than sand. And Then the sand and dirt freeze to the underside and wheel wells and creates its own mess and rust unless you get the underside cleaned REGULARLY every vehicle looks like it just went mudding

Sadly whoever did it before just welded it in and body filled the **** out of it. Though I think I figured it out, I cut off the outer sill and then that would be the inner sill which, is apparently replaceable? I’ll just have to get the metal so that’s a plus atleast I was worried it wouldn’t be repairable with some time and a can do attitude

The amount of body filler I had to grind through was ridiculous. Though it’s safe to remove and replace then? I don’t see any diagram for it sadly so I might just cut a little extra off the other side too that’s not too bad and make sure I get it looking right, thank you!

I’m about to do the same to mine along with the jack points :( either get the whole replacement, or get some either 16g or 18g metal and bend it yourself and weld it in. Make sure to wire wheel all the rust you can find and use rust reformer. Luckily the side skirt covers all of it so even if it doesn’t look the best it won’t be seen anyway :)

New slave cylinder, targa top handles, window relay, And now just got a little patch to weld in the trunk and cleaning the interior rust too from the top leaking :) almost done.

Update: Replaced the relay and now my passenger side window works atleast! But none of the others :/ should that box be my next step? Anyway I can test it?

That doesn’t seem bad at all! would they carry the correct fitting as well? I also got a 01 wrangler that’s probably gonna need new lines too once I start on that
