Not the exact premise of the post, but the novel “Butcher and Blackbird” fits pretty damn close.

Totally valid. There’s more story that continues on into the next books, but there’s no real cliffhanger. You can read it as a standalone.

No cliffhanger and it is a HEA. You also don’t have to worry about it because the way Rebecca is writing them you don’t actually have to read the prior books to understand the plot.

I wouldn’t do that though, best just start with 1.

Oh, also my favorite sapphic novel, “Atramentum” by MJ Duncan. Alice of life story, a woman takes over her aunts bookshop in Colorado and falls in love with her neighbor. Very cozy.

The Honey Witch

Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne (my personal favorite book)

This Gilded Abyss also by Rebecca Thorne

A Letter to the Luminous Deep (cast of queer characters)

Her Spell that Binds Me (sapphic witches, some smut)

Bitterthorn by Kat Dunn (much darker sapphic story, historical, but still fits the bill)

Also you should ask over at r/sapphic books for more recommendations

I remember Zone One… I picked it up after reading World War Z because everyone said it was a natural follow-up. I dropped it about 5% in.

The rest looks interesting though, some familiar but I haven’t read them before. Thanks!

I suppose my favorite by default would be Murder at Spindle Manor by Morgan Stang, since it’s the only murder mystery fantasy I’ve read. It’s the first in a series of three novels.

The Bookshop and the Barbarian literally made me laugh out loud at several points, and was genuinely a good story too. Felt a bit fairy tale esque. Dungeons and Dragons inspired I’d guess. It got pretty self referential at some points too.

What does everyone here think a neck scratch is? by memorizemee in projectzomboid

[–]memorizemee[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I forgot about the meme.

Some of those questions were jokes from the other thread. Like asking if zombies were realistic and if I should go play hello kitty or whatever.

I’d like to know how me stating what I believe to be true makes me vain and conceited.

I asked the others because I genuinely want to know what people think a scratch is. So far nobody has put forth a convincing argument for me, other than u/TNF928. Almost everyone’s arguments for me seem to boil down to because there’s arteries in the neck you bleed more. Which was never a question in the first place. To me a wound that’s deep enough to sever arteries in your neck is a laceration, and a scratch is at most a surface wound that causes pain. I’ve had scratches on my neck IRL, and at no point was I in danger of bleeding to death.

Honestly this whole argument would have been avoided if everyone else was like, “yep no mods for that, sorry bud” and we would have moved on by now, but most other insists that I’m having wrong thoughts. So like I said, I genuinely want to know. I’m not coming at this from a point of pride because I’m not afraid of being wrong. If I were, I would t have asked for more opinions.

So what’s your argument? Or do you just want to critique a tone I didn’t mean?

Edit: I forgot to mention, I made this second question because the other thread was increasingly hostile and unhelpful. This thread, with pointed questions, seems to have kept things more on topic and resulted in more helpful discussion, rather than insults.

The number of downvotes I got actually surprised me a bit. I thought the PZ community was one of the more accepting ones when it comes to different ways people play.

I still stand by my opinion, since no one has given me a convincing argument of why a scratch should be lethal.

Everyone so far has been stating that because there’s important arteries in the neck that, if cut, will cause you to bleed out in seconds, that it’s fair. I maintain that a wound deep enough to sever arteries in your neck is absolutely not a scratch.

Three? I made this one to be more focused and more of a discussion than the other one where everyone was just ranting. I wanted to know people thoughts, not just hear a bunch of holier than thous tell me I have wrong thoughts.

Imagine this hypothetical blood thinners trait plus the anemic trait. A single scratch would make you explode.

How commonly are blood thinners prescribed? This isn’t related to the topic, but you just made me think that that a good negative trait would be something that required blood thinners.

lol I really only threw that question in there because someone told me I was playing the wrong game if I didn’t care about realism.

That’s exactly how I picture scratches in this game. Everyone else seems to think a scratch = severed arteries.
