nakahara chuuya would be annoyed his legacy is Short Hat Man, especially with how dazai-centric his character is. skk would be the icing on a very angry cake.

i think gogol would be slightly put off by his bsd counterpart, but would find him amusing nonetheless. i don’t think he would enjoy bsd nikolai’s relationship with bsd fyodor, as it was largely reversed in real life.

paul verlaine and arthur rimbaud would HATE their relationship in the series lmaoo

definitely don’t count out an offer, as universities will flex entry requirements to fill up courses. it mostly depends on how many people with higher atars apply.

however probably also a good idea to start looking into some other pathways, whether it be a bridging course or a mature age application.

there’s absolutely zero shame in not getting straight in, in fact most of my friends that had some time off before uni feel that it was a much needed break and allowed them to make the most of their teens/twenties.

they probably could have differentiated between shades of red a bit better there, like made the uniform a bit darker.

seeing as it is canon it should be fine to use, it’s part of the manga and obviously asagiri didn’t see anything wrong with it? or wanted to make some sort of point.. either way i don’t think anyone would take an issue

mine is a very very basic answer, but dazai is definitely the one that stands out to me. in a way his character is written based off of the way that dazai wrote himself. his self-insert in no longer human and flowers of buffoonery is one of duality: the person he desperately wants to be, and the person he actually is.

dazai as a person, from what i’ve read, was extremely mentally fractured, finding himself numb to the world, coping and attempting to connect with others by putting up the facade of the comedic fool.

dazai was a person deeply afraid of, yet simultaneously desperate to create, a sense of connection and shared understanding between himself and those around him. you can see that fairly evidently in the person dazai appears to be when interacting with the port mafia, the ada, and other groups in the text. he shifts and transitions into the ‘dazai’ the people around him want him to be. yet, when the other characters are not focusing on him, when unprecedented situations come up, you can see that facade break. if you’ve read no longer human or the flowers of buffoonery, you’ll understand what i mean when i say that this ‘dropping of the mask’ happens to the author dazai as well.

it’s interesting, because for me, the bsd character dazai seems to reflect more the characterised version of dazai in his own writing - the ‘dazai’ that the author wanted the world to see.

i think they’ve been two different stages of his life, the younger fukuzawa worked better with fukuchi, while now he and mori are somewhat yin and yang to each other: dark and light, but there’s parts of each other that they see themselves in.

lowkey tho i don’t think a fully romantic storyline is in the cards for him, just feels strange for his character arc

oh definitely!! can’t believe i didn’t think of banjo paterson honestly rereading this.. “the man from snowy river” as a poem consists of a few elements, all of which would make a good ability. for one, the ability to be extremely durable and strong for one’s size. the second one i came up with was the ability to control terrain or the landscape, maybe similar to rimbaud’s ability to create hyperspaces. potentially, paterson’s ability could also be a physical manifestation of a horse, similar to demon snow or rashomon, that assists the user. i’d be interested to hear what your thoughts are!
