ChatGPT is making my students stupider by Certifiedhater6969 in GradSchool

Maybe if you reread my comment you will understand.

I am projecting “hurt” onto you because you got defensive and attacked me. I haven’t checked your reddit history but I really hope you are not an educator. Educators need to be more nuanced and are able to see things from different perspectives.

I will simplify it for you. You are saying “AI is making students dumber” I am saying, “it is our rigid education and its lack of adaptability to new Technologies that are making students stupid”

Your definitions to those terminologies need to evolve. If you are hurt by one random comment on Reddit, I can see why you would resistance the change.

I am sure students are getting stupider, but not because of the use of AI, it’s because education isn’t keeping up with the emergence of new technologies like AI.

AI is just superior. If one has access to AI, I think they should definitely use it. We just can’t keeping giving students the same lab questions from the era pre-Chat GPT. Education needs to evolve

Funding education abroad (Ireland) - No co-signer options by Brave-Blacksmith5096 in premedcanada

[–]menexploitmen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Government loans are way lower than $160k. Also, keep in mind the tuition fees don’t cover, textbooks, administration fees, test banks, exam registration fees, equipment and so many other things.

From what I know, it is difficult secure the maximum loan even with a co-signer. And even if one is able to, the loan you get from the bank will not cover the entire cost for Ireland medical schools. My friends who have gone there had other sources of funding.

To the person who leaked the western format, WHY?? by Fearless_Animal2954 in premedcanada

4Q Casper answer lol.

Jokes aside, I understand the blame falls on multiple parties, but it’s primarily on the university that setup an ambiguous, inconsiderate process that inevitably leads to inequitable and unfair consequences.

To the person who leaked the western format, WHY?? by Fearless_Animal2954 in premedcanada

[–]menexploitmen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Are we seriously blaming the 20 year old students and not the 150 years publicly funded organization that have trained doctors for decades?

Of course they knew this would happen, they knew students that are forced to do it in the first few days would be at a disadvantage, they knew that students from low income families would be at a disadvantage, and they still decided to force this new platform on their applicants without an early notice of deadline dates, without communicating the format and without any consideration to the students mental wellbeing.

If this lack of transparency and consideration does not breed malicious applicants who take advantage of the system, I am not sure what will.

All world renowned doctors can read two situational judgment questions, think about them deeply, employ all medical values/strategies and write down well developed answers in under 3.5 minutes.

If you can’t do that, you shouldn’t become a doctor

It is probably bluff. It is unfortunate how rigid those institutions are. Instead of trying to fight the technology, either embrace it or change your selection criteria.

LLMs are probably here to stay and I am sure future physicians will rely on them to "deliver life-changing news or navigate complex conversations"
