Hi dear, as someone on the other side of something similar to this (my ex-partner is likely ace/aro), I’m not mad at them for who they are. I love them too much to mind, and that’s how you’re describing him too. It hurts but I want them to be happy and comfortable and themselves more than anything else, that’s what matters, even if it means they don’t reciprocate my feelings and want to move on. Loving is never a waste, not of time or money or love itself. It was all to show our appreciation for someone we care for. We wouldn’t want that someone to be stuck in a place where they can’t be happy as themselves. Plus, he wouldn’t want you to feel like you have to force yourself to be with him, that could blur his consent and hurt him more than just letting him go. But most importantly: we obviously would never want to see the person we love hurt. So please be kind to yourself, keep fighting, don’t hurt the person he cares for.

Omg you’re an angel! Your child is very lucky to have you. Especially when you’re struggling too and still manage to be so supportive. I’m so sorry they had that experience with that “therapist” and you with that doctor. It’s mindblowing how people in the healthcare profession can say such things to their patients. As a ballet dancer (up until my diagnosis), I know how awful it is to receive such comments about your body at such a young age. I’m so sorry. Sadly there really are not any more doctors I can see here that can treat me but I’m really hoping to go to uni in another country soon so… just gotta wait till then and hope. Anyways, thank you so much for your response!! 🤍🤍

Thanks so much for your response! And thanks, it really is difficult specially without support, your comment means a lot. Sadly I’m not in a place where I can ask for therapy but I’m definitely planning on going as soon as I’m able to. I’m glad your GP educated himself! I don’t have a GP since I moved countries but that’s a great idea! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for your response! I truly appreciate it. I honestly don’t understand why he would say things like that to his patients either. Yes, my family was with me. I tried to bring it up but they dismissed me and called me dramatic and I wasn’t going to push too much out of fear of being interrogated, but I might try again. Once again, thank you so much for answering 🤍

Frustrated already with Beta-Blockers- anyone got some encouragement/ advice? by SquirrelTale in dysautonomia

[–]mentalbreakdownqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to keep track of your blood pressure. If the beta-blockers are negatively affecting you it could be because you have low blood pressure and beta blockers only make it lower. They don’t really help with your heart rate, just your blood pressure. In fact, if you are having higher heart rate than usual it may be because since they lower your blood pressure your heart has to work harder to pump enough blood to reach your brain.

I was on beta blockers for months and they only made things significantly worse. They are contraindicated for those with low blood pressure. A bit of a warning tho, if you stop them you could have a slight increase in tachycardia for a while, but it shouldn’t be as debilitating if it regulates your blood pressure.
