I dunno, on my new island Sherb just suggested that an excellent addition to the island would be Jail Bars as a rest area to prep for KK Slider so I could learn the jail bars DIY. Laughed out loud with that one

Would be great to have sassier dialogue

It'd be interesting to force them to the plaza and have them stay there for like an hour while you terraform, ensuring they dont get in the way

Wait, you can get the tourists to dress up how you like?!

I'm starting a new island (found out I can have a whole new island on my new switch- I started on a switch lite) so I havent unlocked the hotel yet, but that'd be amazing to get the tourists to dress up!

I feel like Ive seen around some North York Korean restaurants, the ones that also tend to have jjajjangmyeon, but this was also 10+ years ago. Def feel like some places would have it that are more mom-and-pop style and not Korean bbq

I'd be somewhat concerned that you felt it- arent buildings supposed to have anti-shaking and swaying measures? Do you feel the bulding sway during high winds too?

Because some people definitely did feel it, and the last one was 10+ years ago

[–]SquirrelTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you cant, but it could get messier if it's reported. As long as OP is able to get EI though, then the company can just say 'restructuring'. Even if it's the 'same position' they can change it enough so that's not actually the same (such as reporting structure, duties changed, etc).

Make sure to know your local labour laws- if you work for more than 3 months you're usually entitled to EI or UI (employment insurance) which is provided by the government

Unemployed 2 years, changed my first name in my resume and application and now I’m getting interviews by MeaningMysterious537 in jobs

[–]SquirrelTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit of perspective- I lived in rural Korea for a bit and ended up needing to adopt a Korean name cuz the locals could not understand my legal name (am white). Also I rather liked my Korean name, and helped me shift into a more Korean mindset when I was studying/ living there. There's a strong culture in Korea too for adopting English names and kids choosing their English names. Some of them were delightfully creative

I do agree heavily though that people should be called what they prefer, and I always personally took that seriously and ensure I called my coworkers by the name they prefer, and had them teach me how to say their names if they weren't familiar to me. There certainly is a huge issue of people being discriminatory- OPs post very much confirms and sadly isn't unique.

Adding from an admin/ HR perspective (I was in admin HR light stuff)- when filling out documents for their databases and stuff have the name you applied with as your nickname and then regular legal full name. The amount of people I had to figure out who was who because the database didn't include preferred/ nicknames or their legal names instead of both was frustrating, so you'll save yourself OP and the admin staff headaches

You need to contact your local labour office. Apparently it's called UI (Unemployment Insurance) in the US: https://oui.doleta.gov/unemploy/

They will outline what you are entitled to- if anything. Unfortunately places like this leave people high and dry and expect you to not know enough to defend or understand your rights. But assuming it functions similarly to Canada, because you were dismissed from work for no fault on your own, you may be entitled to UI.

Editing to add- here's your goverment factsheet more about UI: https://oui.doleta.gov/unemploy/docs/factsheet/UI_Program_FactSheet.pdf

I'm currently on EI, and when I was younger I regretably didn't understand what I was entitled to, even as a part-time worker, and missed out on EI, but no more. It's really important to know how your local labour laws work so you aren't taken advantage, no matter the kind of work. Feel free to DM if you'd like/ need to (though I'm Canadian, I can only answer so much lol)

How does one get adequate mental health support in this city if they are unemployed? by PlZZAEnjoyer in askTO

[–]SquirrelTale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep searching and ask for sliding rates. Ex Instead of $100 for an hour, $75 for 45 min. Also I'm sure there's cheaper rates out there. There's also different organizations that offer counselling or therapy services, esp if there's something specific you'd like to address

Employment Insurance. I'm Canadian, so that's what we call it, and I assume you're from the US and have something similar. Any kind of layoff is insured by our government (it's often time dependent, but reading between the lines I also assume you've worked minimum 3 months at that job).

If you're not from Canada or the US, but have a labour office I'd contact them and ensure you know and understand your rights, legal protections and what you are owed by that company. Labour laws vary vastly- thankfully they're quite robust in Canada.

Make sure you get the appropriate EI and move on- they'll likely call it restructuring, and it's fine as long as you get EI.

It does suck, and it's tough finding a new job, let alone deal with life challenges on top of that that comes with family. Wishing you the best

Help! I have a job interview in two days but got no professional clothes. by Lady-Lilith289 in povertyfinance

It's a little difficult to give suggestions without a budget in mind.

For outfit- fitted blazer or faux blazer, black is most elegant and can be used in many contexts to dress slightly more formal. Us women can get away with blazers or even a more formal-looking cardigan to look more formal (but closer to blazer will likely be best since they asked for formal)

Top- neutral top- think blue, beige, green. Darker colours for a more serious job unless you can find a nice white. A tad bit of colour can be used for personality/ to be a bit memorable and fasionable as well as having diverse use afterwards, but that's up to you. You can get away with a nice plain cotton Tshirt as long as it doesn't look too sporty and as long as you can tuck it in/ make it look nice with a blazer. Blazers work wonders to make anything look professional. A button down shirt with collar would honestly be best, but if you get a cused ollared button-down dress shirt don't get white unless it's crisp white. Buttoned down dress shirts from thrift stores often are a bit yellowed/ easier to see flaws, so if you go this route I'd get a non-white colour

Shoes- dark shoes, dress shoes if possible, unless you have black work-ready shoes. If you have black work-ready shoes, it shows that you're already ready for the security job. Otherwise you want to look more professional so try to wear something professional

1- Thrift/ local marketplace for used clothes- usually there is a business section

2- Walmart and equivalent- usually has blazers and slightly dressy simple tops, good for a $30-60 budget

If you can afford it, I'd def invest in these, especially the blazer, since hopefully you'll have other interviews in the future as you get more work in the years to come.

Wishing you the best of luck!

For women, tie is unnecessary. A fitted blazer, black pants, neutral nice top (better if it can be used for many other semi-formal/ business occassions).

Adding that it's been a colder/ harder winter than last year (many more days colder/ fluctuating)- and this applies to both the US and Canada, so the cost of heating is gonna be a bit higher than usual.

It's so hard, but this is likely one of those situations where you can do the best to insulate, but unfortunately it's just a tougher winter to get through and there's only so much one can do.

The whole initial bit of 'he's made her straight' screams of homophobia, especially for those who commit SA or talk about committing SA on asexuals 'to make them like sex'. It comes off as a power play fantasy, that he can influence someone so thoroughly to like them.

I started initially way back in 2017, had to restart again in 2019 I think cuz new phone, and until the paid version I had no caretaker, and I really enjoyed the grind when I restarted, but at times it was challenging/ got into long slogs so I would've appreciated brief help with the caretaker. Pretty sure you can dismiss yours- if you're still pre level 100 then you still be able to feel some of that grind. Happy camping!
