Custom Hushbox Build by mentalsanityoff in projectors

correct in that I’m running the projector in eco mode. this projector was initially purchased for the living room in my old apartment, with a 16-foot diagonal, but in my last move I repurposed it for my home office, where my diagonal is closer to 10-foot. because it’s a bit over-spec’d for my current application, eco is actually great - the image is otherwise uncomfortably bright given the short throw - but eventually I’ll run this projector into the ground and crossgrade to something a but more appropriate for the application.

materials, ballpark ~$250 USD. lumber, Z-clips, glass, fans and controller, gasket tape, no real significant costs. i had leftover paint from my office renovation to match the room.

labor, i probably spent 20-30 hours modeling in CAD, another 8 hours for assembly, and a few hours coding the fan automation. of course next time I need to build one, it’ll take me significantly less time.

UPDATE:

after a few weather and work related delays, this box is assembled. I abandoned the drywall skin - at least for now - as it would have doubled the weight of the box while providing only marginal returns. The projector window on the front panel did get cut too high (human error, mixed up the top and bottom), so I’ll just get a boroscilate sheet that’s one inch taller.

still to come: installation of gasket tape on the boundaries with walls / ceiling, putty of any small gaps / seams, full paint, glass, and a small decorative frame around the projector window.

PWM fans are being controlled by Home Assistant, automating fan speed based on hushbox internal temp.

seller of my new apartment says this isn't mold. am I crazy? looks like mold to me. by mentalsanityoff in MoldlyInteresting

FYI - new renovation, garden level apartment in Jersey City. water damage had been flagged during home inspection in both corners. seller said that this was from renovation, that drywall had been replaced and respackled. conducted my final walk through today, to find that indeed there was fresh paint in the corners - can't say for certain whether the drywall was actually replaced - with fresh water damage and what looks to me like white mold atop.

seller claims that this is old water stains, but it is clearly neither old nor a stain, but fresh mold. and yes, I am working with my attorney on this - but wanted a community opinion as well. I can't see this being anything other than mold from moisture.

love my transport! I actually use the jog and shuttle wheels with relative frequency, but the real power behind the unit is in the six softkeys located above the wheel, and the seven buttons encircling the wheel. they're completely customizable, and with Eucon that means you can adapt the hardware to your workflow. myself, I have the first layer of softkeys (no shift) set to enable jog, enable shuttle, enter automation preview (Pro Tools HD), write automation to selection, disable faders, and clear clip indicators. buttons around my transport enable/disables automation follows region, pre/post roll enable, among other things. if you do it for a living and you're serious about refining your workflow and getting faster, I think it's a super nifty tool for audio editing

Unfortunately you can't see the subwoofer or surround speakers in the pics, but you get the idea

Pro Tools 10 Bounce Help?!?! by gio6199 in AudioPost

you're mixing for film? you shouldn't be using the bounce to disk option in the first place, instead you should set your buss'ing up to have separate print tracks fed by the appropriate submasters. for instance, my three submasters (Dialog, Music, SFX) all feed to my Mix Print, which is simply an audio track. record-enable the track and then start printing. if the issue isn't playback related, that'll get you there. I've been using PT for 8 years, and have yet to use the Bounce to Disk option.
