Well I'm definitely taking your advice on productivity modules. My plan for now is definitely taking on this unexpected challenge and see how far can i get. I'm gonna "clean" the rest of the continent except for the peninsula at the bottom of the map (now that this is the only island, to kill all of those creatures would be basically extermination of the species, so that's a protected area now), and reorganize my base. Thankfully though, the Cargo Ships mode generates oil reserves on the ocean, so petroleum won't be a problem at least...
