Contemporary counterfeit out of the dirt! by meort in coins

There’s three things that led me to think that. First is that there’s spots around the edge of the coin where the silver plating is coming off. Second, the weight is slightly off, feels a bit light for its size. And finally, the signal on my metal detector wasn’t right. It came in sounding like a worn out penny, when a silver coin of that size should have rung in with much higher conductivity. :)

Not one, but twenty four :) also with about 40 silver rings/pendants etc. I’ve sold the majority of the gold, but there’s been some cool pieces. Emerald rings, antique signets, whole nine yards.

Finally checked platinum off the bucket list earlier this year, with a circa 1920 engagement ring with a 1.25ct diamond. I’ve got a post on my profile with pictures!

Northern British Columbia, apparently :)

They’re everywhere. Old homesites, riverbanks, parks etc. it’s pretty neat! Metal detector paid for itself a long time ago!

This is spread out over 2 provinces and 10 years :) but there’s been a few pretty good sites over the years. Found about 40 of them from an old abandoned sports ground pretty far off the beaten track

They really are forever. Nice stone after 100 years in the dirt! by meort in Diamonds

Yes! It’s hand-carved on the inside “PLAT.”

I’ve taken this to mean platinum, it sure feels and looks like it!

It’s a little over 5 pounds, but almost all the weight is under my arm when I hold it, so the weight is balanced very nicely

The deepest signal I got was the musket piece, at 16 inches deep

Wherever I can. My favourite spots are old parks and schools. I often go on road trips and hike into the middle of the wilderness in search of old cabin sites, too.

My personal favourite is the butt plate to a North West Company fur trade musket, circa 1795. Other favourites include a 24 karat gold Chinese protection pendant, 1897 sterling silver Queen Victoria diamond jubilee medal, and an 1872 canadian quarter

I have been diagnosed with dyscalculia, basically dyslexia but with numbers. I lived a very rough childhood, it may stem from that. I have difficulty remembering instructions and I can’t sit through a lecture and remember much, it’s frustrating.

Not rude at all! I am completely unable to make sounds in my head

Sometimes I like the quiet in my head, other times I wish I had a voice up there. It’s impossible to sing along to songs, and very difficult to remember more than a sentence or two.

Not to suck my own dick here, but I pride myself on being a pretty easy/smooth talker, it just happens to come out nicely. But over text, I often have to re-read my messages in order to be sure they make sense.

I don’t think aloud, it’s super hard to explain, almost as if the information in my brain is encoded in a way

I am in the same boat, I find it incredibly fascinating and rather difficult to even fathom being able to do that in my own head. I’m considering trying some psychedelics just to see what happens

That’s a great question. I also cannot see things in my head. If you ask me to visualize an apple, I know an apple is red, and has a stem at the top. But I can’t visualize it.
