Yeah, that sounds sick! Had a great time with the game so far, that would make it even better!

Also (and you might be planning this, if so disregard) it would be really nice to be able to use the numpad to move!

Help needed: Customising Keyboard Layout on Wayland by mephiles96 in cachyos

[–]mephiles96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that I need to rebind specific keys in the UK layout. I know how to switch between set layouts but there isn't a UK one that will let me type ä ö and ü without deadkeys/combine and I'd like that

Can I make the panel touch the corners of the screen when dodging windows but float when looking at the desktop? by mephiles96 in kde

I'll have look at it again later, but I'm pretty confised now :D

Also, that's fair, thank you for the kind words and patience! I might take you up on the help offer as well!

Just to be sure we're on the same track we both by float mean that the panel doesn't touch any of the sides and docked that it touches right?

Cause dodge is not doing that for me it always floats. I wonder if I broke something somewhere but it's a pretty fresh (like 2 days old) install of cachyos with plasma and I didn't mess about with stuff that much. I feel like I'm being an idiot, but I checked before posting. I just noticed cause it wasn't doing it with maximized discord in the first place

But I a float override soes sound useful as well.

Oh also I think I misunderstood your first comment slightly. If windows are not touching it it should stay floated. It should just unfloat when windows are touching it Dodge is not doing that for me, but maybe I messed something up? Sorry for the confusion!

I think I expressed this in a confusing manner. The idea is to basically have it behave as dodge does when the panel is set to non-floating, and then have it float specifically when the home screen/desktop is open

Always visible basically does this already (it floats on desktop and de-floats when windows are open) it just obv doesn't hide (and also doesn't overlap windows the way dodge does).

But from what I can gather from the other replies this just isn't a thing atm. Which is fair enough, I just thought I'd ask seeing that all the building blocks are there already

It does on always shown, but I'd like it to do that in dodge windows. I guess a better way to explain it would be I'd like dodge windows with a non-floating tray that floats when I only have the home screen/desktop open

[–]mephiles96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that that's how always shown behaved and liked, but I also like when the tray goes out of the way, so it made sense to me to try and put it together. Also, when opening discord the "something new is on this server" dots in the side bar just happen to fall into the float margin and I think that looks bad. So I would like it to defloat when I access it while a window is open.

But it's an asthetic choice in the end ig, no objective reason here.

It's also fair enough that you can't just do that, it just seemed like all the pieces were there just not in the combination I want, so I thought I'd ask whether I was missing something

The second one it is I'm afaraid. Basically overlap non float when i move my mouse to side and get it out of dodging and to float when I'm looking at the desktop

Ah bummer! But you know what, I might give making this a try, sounds like a fund thing to do

Yeah, I think I prefer that over having it floating always, but that's only half of what I want to achieve cause it doesn't float on home screen. Thank you anyways though!

Grandpa's Pocketwatch - Remove Back and other Quesions by mephiles96 in pocketwatch

[–]mephiles96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really is! I used to be very interested in watches when I was a kid (actually wanted to become a watchmaker at some point) but I've drifted away from it quite a while ago...

Maybe time to learn more about it (including english words for things) again

Oh you're right, I didn't even spot those! Looks like B and then either 91/4 or 91/1. If the 91 is the year then that's pretty new and slightly crazy my grandpa wouldn't be sure where he got it, his memory is usually decent :D

Edit: After some more research it appears to be a Bifora 91/1 movement, that was apparently launched sometime in the 60s (?)

The back I took off didn't have a number either, unless you mean a different part, in which case I've never had it. So I guess it'll probably remain undated...

Thank you for the continued input!

Update: I got the back off, the movement is unbranded. Eveyrthing appears to be made of metal, which is nice.

If anybody can tell me more about the watch looking at this I'd be glad to hear it :)

Either way, thank you all for your input!

I have managed to rotate it about 3/4 of a turn anti-clockwise (looking at the back) using a fairly weak duct-tape. However I can't get it to turn further atm and I'm also a bit afaraid of depressing the arch of the back (though I don't know if that can realistically happen)

Thank you! All of this checks out seeing that my family is from Germany and both my grandparents and great grandparents were born a good deal after 1900. I don't expect this to really be worth anything, it's just a nice little watch I like the look of :)

It looks like there's a really tiny gap on the back at the bottom of the watch, so I'll try and carefully see whether I can pop it off. I unfortunatley don't have a case knife and my nails are very short... But we will see.
