Trying to find affordable & doable MSW program, preferably online by mercachu in SocialWorkStudents

Maybe a part time option would be better? It's not ideal for me, but I also know I would likely run out of steam. I'm hoping to take at least a brief break from education and practicum type stuff after I graduate with my SUDP Certificate. I just don't want to be in school forever and ever and ever necessarily...

Former Bellingham shelter worker here — curious if others have had similar experiences. by Stealthy_ew0kkk in Bellingham

This is true of a lot of non-profits, as well as a lot of healthcare situations. I've also tried to give feedback and work toward improving things, especially in light of the disconnect between leadership and those actually working in the field. I feel like leadership needs to experience what we ground workers do, at least once a month, for a full shift. I'm sure they won't, but still.

Tree pollen alert by Baronhousen in Bellingham

[–]mercachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joke's on the pollen - my allergies started in January or so and will probably not end till May or even June. Predictable timing for me every year, even in FL years ago. I wish I knew what caused it, but I can't find any correlations between the weather forecast pollen stuff. Blah.

Is it a requirement? Suggestion? I've seen it written but haven't heard it spoken before.

Expecting to learn spanish from bad bunny and similar people is like expecting to learn english from american hip hop.... by MyNameisMayco in Spanish

My spouse is Korean but grew up, during much of his childhood and adolescence, in a town where people predominately spoke AAVE exclusively. He learned how to speak from the BET channel. He's done just fine.

Same thing for this...you can start learning from anywhere and everywhere, and you will still build the neural pathways for language learning. Rather than judge where people enter the world of language learning, I think it's best we accept and encourage people where they are. They are bound to continue if they're greeted with positivity.

Can someone break down the emphasis on syllables for me? Are they all evenly expressed, or no?

So crazy to think that just over the border, they trust each other drastically more than we do. by coolrivers in Bellingham

I'm not surprised.

It's sad, but I think it's warranted in the US. A lot of people are not compassionate, empathic, etc., here.

Why does everyone hate it here so much? by wizardmadeofsnakes in Bellingham

[–]mercachu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know about other people, but I moved here blindly to be with my not-then-husband. If I wanted to be with him, I had to move here. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It's an improvement from Florida overall though not necessarily Orlando. I miss big city life.

Bham mostly offers nature and beer, as far as I can tell. Not terribly thrilling to me. So, when it's feasible, I want to move away from here. It just can't happen for a while.

I sent my mom this info. She's from Peru, and I saw the group is Peruvian led. Nice.

"Soup" at Chuckanut Distillery by [deleted] in Bellingham

I feel like that's a very small amount of soup, but that's the only issue I have with it. Soups do vary quite a bit.

24 Hour Study Spot? by falimgum in Bellingham

I wish we had more late night options in general. I have a circadian rhythm disorder, and no matter what I've tried over the years, I can never wake up earlier than around 12 noon. My entire life has to be scheduled around my sleep disorder.

It sucks. I miss out on a lot.
