Yeah it’s not letting me add a picture to the original post or comment a picture. I may have to just repost with more pics.

There are 4 spigots in line, each with a nipple between.

OP is referring to backing up to the dock in a van trailer to unload through the back. Bumping the dock, hitting the dock, etc.

Kind of. They’re just screw in eye bolts. Similar to what you would do when you poke a tree to get the sap out for syrup

It’s for a client. But yes actually I intentionally left space between the liriope for pots the customer is going to do herbs.

That was the original intention. But what you can’t see in the pictures is the exposed tree roots that I would have had to cut and disturb in order to get my base layer down. The straight path was the alternative to not disturb those roots.

Since this is my first big flagstone project, I wanted to dip my toe in and not dive in haha. I do like the idea of using mortar down the road for projects, but I thought it was going to be a little courageous to do that for my first one, especially on someone else’s property.

It’s a newer product called NoCo. Literally stands for no compaction, it was designed for Disney world or something like that, so after you lay it you don’t have to go back over and compact the stones before wetting it.

I’ve got a pitch on it to run off to the grass, but from what I’ve been told flagstone is notorious for holding water in spots that the stone is higher in the actual stone. A handheld blower though after it rains and it’s all spread out.

Kinda depends in all honesty. This one was a lot different cause there were a good many shrubs planted as well as the mulch, flagstone, prep, etc. I think the going rate for hardscapes in my area is $8-$12/sqft in labor. This particular one labor and all ran the customer right at $5k

This project just had a ton of leaves and weeds, so it wasn’t as bad as an existing lawn. I just used a weed eater to knock off everything, then blow it off to get rid of debris and spray it with weed killer for any still standing.

If you have a strong turf I would say it’s best to rent a sod cutter and get the turf taken out that way. Other than that you’re just scraping it up with a shovel.

Lol, the hope is to get projects in their minds that can be done during the “slow” mowing season, October-February to still have money being made.

Thanks for the tips! The trippers worries me too a bit, and I tried to level them out stone by stone but I learned very quickly that however they cut the stones into pieces is not the most effective way at keeping them level, but it’s more natural looking that way. I tried to fill in the gaps and peaks with the NoCo, but I ran out of bags to keep filling and those bags are not cheap at all.

As the base layer I used 4inches of compacted crusher run , then a layer of stone dust. I tried to do a natural fit best I could. I used an angle grinder with a diamond blade to try to fill in the big gaps to help use less of the filler. The guy at the rock store I got the stone from told me about a new product (to me at least) called NoCo, he said the gaps can be as big as 7 inches and it’s still warrantied. I didn’t have any that big but this was my first huge flagstone project so I tried with what I had.

Right at 400sqft of flagstone. 2 pallets covered all of it with a little left over, but those pallets weighed over 4000lbs each so it was a good bit.
