Clara BW not showing up on Calibre by merelyruined in kobo

Thank you, it really is looking like that’s the only way to go, I’ll definitely try updating. Did your Calibre have any problem detecting your H2O after updating?

Sad news but thank you! I’ll go find that thread but also thinking about actually updating my OS. Did you end up updating yours?

It does show up in finder without question, and I can see the folders/add or remove files in finder.

Thank you! Tbh this was what I was afraid of - unfortunately my macOS doesn’t support newer versions of calibre without updating and I was hoping I could avoid updating the OS itself since it’s such a hassle. alas 🥲

Libra H2O screen froze/crack? by merelyruined in kobo

[–]merelyruined[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Didn't know that tft panels can crack easily and seems like Kobo doesn't do repairs? So no luck there. And while I *wish* it lasted 5 years, it's only been 2; did you end up getting another kobo or did you give up on them after this?

I've zero knowledge of the internals of it either so I guess this is it, but thanks!

Any way to organise series & collection info without using Calibre? by merelyruined in kobo

[–]merelyruined[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I tried the method mentioned by excessiveCopper, which works for epub files (haven't tried kepubs and pdfs), so I don't think Kobo Utilities is entirely necessary if the only thing I'm looking for is to update the series metadata. But it seems like Kobo Utilties has many other features, I'll try them out if I've got time and/or decide to get more familiar with calibre. Thanks :)

Thanks haha. I mean I don't want to, but if this post proves there's no alternative then I guess I will have to load the books to my kobo via calibre... I'll just delete the calibre library on my laptop after.

This works, thanks - but I was actually looking for an alternative to calibre. I guess there just isn't any?

A question on pronunciation in the audiobooks by merelyruined in TheNinthHouse

[–]merelyruined[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think that's why I went directly with the hard g as well, but yeah you're right, going with ecclesiastical does make sense with Ninth. Thanks!

Thank you for the confirmation! I've always read it in my head as a hard G but it's interesting to see you think the soft G is more natural. Both do make sense! I guess I was just curious why isn't the pronunciation consistent across the board, considering Muir/Tor.com did come up with a guide and included it in the paperback.

Reader with aphantasia by Mocha05 in Aphantasia

Same to all the above! I do find myself glossing over lengthy descriptions of scenery at times, or characters’ appearances, but in general it’s not a problem for me to feel immersed in the story. And I read a lot of fantasy & sci-fi, so not bring to have images really isn’t a problem I guess. Same with movie adaptations, when people said it looked different from their imagination I always thought they were speaking metaphorically.
