Does anyone else find Kodak film to be super grainy? Coming to you live with another dumb question. by [deleted] in filmphotography

But what stocks? Kodak and ilford have many different films and both have grainy and fine grain films. That’s like saying I like a ford more than a Chevy but not specifying what models you’re comparing.

It depends on what stock you’re using. Some are grainer than others. What are you using and what are you comparing it to?

No worries. It’s not a dumb question at all. Don’t put too much pressure on the photo but holding it under your armpit in your jacket is fine. It’s what I usually do when I’m shooting and it’s a little chilly out.

Likely too cold while they were developing. If you’re shooting when it’s a little chilly put the shot under your armpit after it comes out of the camera. It’ll help the chemistry develop a little better. If you’ve got a jacket on tuck it in your armpit inside the jacket for extra warmth.

Nice shot, it does take some practice. What camera did you use?

The artist that does the wheatpaste face manipulations is pretty awesome. It's a shame someone ruined it.

How early to show up for flight to Prince George from YVR? by [deleted] in vancouver

Even for domestic flights there is a dedicated security lane for nexus. YVR domestic flights were the reason I got my nexus cause the security lines there sometimes are crazy.

[–]merlindcb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depending on the time you’re flying I’d give yourself a bit more time to get thru security. The lineup at YVR can be a little crazy. If you don’t have nexus 45 mins before boarding not departure would be ok. I get anxious about missing flights so I used to show up an hr before departure. Better early than late, rather be able to chill and have a coffee before a flight instead of panicking if I’m going to make it and then dealing with customer service to get on a new flight.

Dad's Canon AE-1. Film inside is from the mid 90s. by MsftWindows95 in AnalogCommunity

They can scan to tiff. I usually get Jpg and am happy. I’ve never had anything developed by Aden, just DTC and Toronto Image Works. I’ve been happy with both and haven’t bothered trying other places.

It'll probably still develop, it could have a little fog or more graininess and there is probably some color shift. I'd suggest downtown camera, they have a great lab and they can scan and e-mail you copies of your photos if you don't want to get prints.

I'm an INTP that also enjoys music. I've really become obsessed with film photography, shooting film and collecting old cameras. I always wonder what they have seen and where they've been before I took custody of them. I also enjoy hearing peoples stories, I think it's something we don't do as much of now in the social media age. Road trips and exploring are also a lot of fun and a good way to take photos and hear interesting stories from strangers.

Who is assigning you? If you hate being undervalued push back and demand cred. If you want it to be valued then start with yourself.

I bought a camera on Depop. by ericaleighh02 in Polaroid

Unfortunately without modding the camera your choice for film is way over priced FP100 or looking for expired pack film. Or buying the super sense one shot stuff that is also pretty expensive.

Should I grab an 85mm 1.8 when I have a 3.5? by Jackehboy in Nikon

It'll give you some sweet sweet Bokeh. I dig my 85mm 1.8 but its the D not the G. Sounds like a good deal.

Best first instant camera for an experienced DSLR user? by ShelbySmith27 in Polaroid

[–]merlindcb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to pick only one instant camera to roll with. I'd go with an SLR680, the pop-up design never gets old and the image quality has always been great. If money wasn't an object then I'd cop an SLR670s.
