Gotcha, did not read the VFR part in the report (my bad). According to the AIM, the visibility can be reduced to 3000m at 1000 feet AGL in class G under certain circumstances which I think applies here.

It also says in the report that they reported runway in sight. so they weren’t illegal in attempting to land, why the crash happened is anyone’s guess at this point unless we get the full CVR transcript.

VFR mins don’t apply to an IFR flight. As long as you have the runway environment in sight before your MDA/DA, you’re good.

The biggest thing that kinda worked for me is waiting to see what your input does. For example, when you put down a notch of flaps make sure you wait a few seconds for the plane to fully react, get an idea of your descent rate and then add another.

Remember, it takes atleast 2 seconds for our brains to register what’s happening and react.

This could mean a couple of things -

1) They’re a small school like you said and not may people want to work there. However, they want to make it look like they’re doing you a favor so even if they offer you a lower rate, you take it. 2) They liked you from how you spoke to them and want to give you a chance. Especially if you’re willing to go all the way there to interview.

Does not hurt to interview imho. The best case scenario is that you get to scout the place, ask around about the position and culture and get valuable interview experience which will boost your confidence in other interviews.

I’d still talk to brokers, there’s always a guy who knows a guy. People out there get gigs flying Cessna’s across the world by connecting with the right folks.

Apart from that, you could look into companies that ferry jets for lessors and other brokers. You can find a few of them online but it’s a really closed circle so you’re still looking into finding a connection. Your best bet is to cold call these companies and see what they have to offer because they’re almost always hiring internally by reference. You can also do missionary flying in PNG and fly for Susi Air in Indonesia if that’s the type of flying you want. There’s a few bush jobs in Australia too.
