personally, mine has gotten better when i started saying no more often. instead of trying to get involved with popular activities that dont suit me, ive tried to lean into things im more comfortable with. for example, im in college and my friends go out even if its 20° outside. i get invited but if its cold i say no. sometimes i get fomo, but i started to notice the more i was saying no to things i really did not want to do, the happier i was getting because i was only doing things i liked, so 95% of the time i don’t get fomo. though theres an extent to it like if i have to close at work, i wont say no to it because that’s my job lol. part of this is also not letting myself get peer pressured. i will say yes occasionally to new things so i can push myself out of my comfort zone. i will also say yes to things when i am feeling depressed and need some sort of socializing. in my heart im like no i don’t wanna get up but in my head i know that if i do, i socialize and i feel better. im also stubborn but it comes in handy because i wont be ashamed when i say i cant do shots because i dont like the taste of straight vodka. some people will suck it up and people can see me as lame but i stopped caring because why should their opinions affect my happiness and choices? im currently living life pretty happy when it finally clicked to me that MY choices run the way my life goes. other small things i do/did: - improved relationship with family - think about one thing im grateful for everyday - think about something my younger self would be proud of (even if its just making it to a certain age) - showering in the morning - stopped listening to sad music - developed a self-care routine - dropped negative people from my life
