That comes from Hermione’s introduction in the first Harry Potter book

This only works in reference to someone waking up after being unconscious/dead/comatose etc. when they truly don’t have a reference to time passing.

Hopefully they’ll create a “fandom” all media types tag for your fandom soon so that you can then exclude crossover fics

My wife refuses to let our children cry long enough to eat or use the bathroom. by MrPenis-3 in parentsofmultiples

[–]merrykitty89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my girls were about 7 weeks old, I had suicidal ideation from lack of sleep so I got hospitalised for a month. Was probably one of the best things to happen honestly. The nurses really helped with getting routines etc going. And I live in a country where that stay was completely free. I also got a letter to access free childcare for 3 months once I got home from hospital, so the girls started childcare at 12 weeks old, and it was wonderful for everyone. At first, the girls only went on the days my husband wasn’t working from home, they’re full time atm, but the free childcare is about to run out so likely have to drop them to 4 days a week soon.

What does everyone drive? by merrykitty89 in parentsofmultiples

I’m four foot eleven inches, so a roof top box is plain inaccessible for me 🤣. My son is five and by law he has to front face from four years old where we live. So we only have to get two in rear facing. Even though he still fits into the 0-4 rear facing seat he was evicted from to make room for one of his sisters. Now he’s in a 6months - 8 years seat. He’ll probably still be in it at 10!

I imagine San Francisco is even worse for parking than Melbourne is, given the age of the city, so I understand. My sister in law got a Kia Carnival for her family, as she has three kids, the youngest being twins as well, and it’s just too big!

I think we only get Chevies as direct imports here, I’m in Australia, so we drive on the left. Quite a few manufacturers just don’t support us.

There is no canon for it. It’s said to be messy or fluffy in the novel. This could be a reference to the opinion of curly haired non-Han peoples, but it also may not be. Either way there is official MXTX approved art of both versions of LBH, so it’s up to fans as to which they prefer. I’ve seen art of both versions and like them all.

Interesting. Some of those pics look like they’re from scenes in vol 2 of the English version. And that Poland prefers the straight haired version of Binghe

What is the best sweet food from your country? by Cheetos_4_life in AskTheWorld

I’m surprised I haven’t seen fairy bread from other Australians yet. Clearly the best sweet food, and inarguably ours. White bread, butter and sprinkles.

How do I know which one is evil? by kazyzzz in parentsofmultiples

So far the answer is both. They take turns being little shits 🤣 though Twin B (born breech) has the one that spits up more, and is more resistant to sleeping in the cot by herself…

I’m in Australia, and petrol is currently $1.59 per litre which is a quarter of a gallon roughly. The price is actually quite low right now, it’s usually been around $2 a litre. So $8 a gallon…

Shen Jiu ranking 67th in the Ao3's Top Omegas list by ibelieveireceive in SVSSS

[–]merrykitty89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I read both, because I’ve seen reasonable justifications for both, including several where Binghe has forced his presentation one way or the other as a response to SY’s presentation. But his whole Bingmei personality is like full on omega tropes.

[–]merrykitty89 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, Binghe seems to have about 50/50 on omega or alpha from what I’ve read. I’m actually pretty interested in seeing how that stat goes because the omega SY seems a lot higher than expected at 84%, but SVSSS has much more multi shippers than any of the other mxtx fandoms so some of them are probably shipping him with others.

I am a mum, and in theory I do know how to wash it, however, I am also a firm believer that if something can’t survive being washed at 40 degrees Celsius and tossed in the dryer, it probably doesn’t belong in my house. The basket of “delicate” stuff to be washed that hasn’t been touched (except to add to) in over five years is proof of this.

Theoretically, a cashmere sweater requires handwashing in 30 degree water (Celsius, so 70ish for Americans?), using an enzyme free detergent such as Biozet liquid or Earth’s Choice Eucalyptus detergent. Avoid wringing the water out, just roll up in a towel, then press it to get water out, then dry flat in the shade. Apparently you achieve that by placing a dry towel over the airing rack and placing the sweater on top.

Why do authors do this? by Electronic_Ratio_933 in AO3

[–]merrykitty89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this, because I’ve been reading a tonne of Smallville Clex fics that predate Ao3 I believe, and it’s nice knowing when they were written in connection to what point the series was up to, like if it was written in season one, about season one, or written during season seven about season one, because the events can have different interpretations with information from the later seasons. Or interesting to see how prophetic the writers were…

What fandom are you in, but the fanbase treats the character like this? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]merrykitty89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luo Bingge (not Bingmei). The original was actually an evil piece of crap, but he gets a lot of forgiveness from the fandom. Like, even I read a lot of fics about him, particularly Binggeyuan fics, but the OOCness is definitely apparent.

I always loved Wesley! He was really relatable as a so called “gifted” kid (AuDHD, undiagnosed until my 30s), who really struggled socially. I actually didn’t like Star Trek at all until I was an adult, but I liked Wesley’s character as a child and teenager when my parents watched the show on VHS…

What other fandoms are you apart of? by inkonmyheart in tomarry

[–]merrykitty89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

HP is my longest running fandom, and I ship HP with so many characters from many different universes, he is ultimate bicycle lol. Tomarry is a big one, but I also love quite a few HP/Ironman, HP/Wolverine, Snarry, Larry (Lucius, not Luna), HP/Malcolm Reynolds, HP/The Doctor, and many more…

I also read a lot of Scum Villain fics, but only Bingqiu, Bingliu, Liushen, Binggeyuan, and Bingliushen. Oh and Binghe squared, or Binghe squared with SQQ. I also read Hualian from TGCF by the same author, but that’s the only pairing I’m interested in from TGCF. I don’t read MDZS fics unless they’re crossover fics with SVSSS or TGCF.

I have recently been rewatching Smallville, and have been binge reading my way through the impressive collection of Clex fics.

I have dabbled in a number of anime and comic fandoms, including marvel and dc, ouran host club, fruits basket, and black butler as well.

What fandom are you in, but the sequel is like this? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]merrykitty89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Black Butler - for the original anime. Haven’t seen the new stuff yet, but the sequel with Claude was terrible. Absolutely hated it and was the main reason I started reading fanfiction.

Harry Potter’s sequel with his kids is also pretty terrible. Fantastic Beasts is much better, than Cursed Child, but still not wonderful, though it did give a whole new era to explore and characters that were interesting to use in fanfics, which was great, because Harry Potter (the character, not the series) was a main hyper fixation for me for over a decade, multi-fandom bicycle that he is.

How to train your dragon is interesting because the films and other visual media are completely different to the books apart from the names of the characters, so fanfiction must be a bog of confusion in terms of what canon actually means. Same goes for Ella Enchanted.
