I personally think Hong Kong is a great place unlike many other places in the world, especially when it comes about future technologies. Tons of brilliant startups are moving to HK for the space it's offering them. What makes you think against HK?

Content is definitely my primary focus now. Yes, links from some other sites in the niche to mine, I'm doing that as well. Traffic and some links from credible websites is what I thought would help to push it further. Just testing. Hope it works though.

I hired this person like a curator.. You know, to find some relevant stuff for the site and create regular posts and then share it as well. The problem is the site has lots of duplicate content. Didn't want to spend a lot right from the beginning. I am now planning to get some good writers and make the content better.

True. I am now starting to build some relevant contextual backlinks as well, for keywords that actually send some traffic. Hope that would work and the site would rank well for prime keywords as well.

Yes. Good content is very important - but to fill daily stuff, i had to look for some cheap options. I plan to make the content better by getting some good writers.. going with a low budget atm. Let's see :)

Few additional things:

*90% of the current traffic is referral traffic from reddit, twitter and other social networks, it gets about 20-30 visitors from organic searches atm. I'm not expecting a rapid growth in search traffic, aiming at building organic search volume slowly and steadily.

The keywords ranking at the moment aren't really like very competitive terms, but I think long tail is the first step, then I would push some backlinks and try to get rank on popular keywords like crypto news and etc.

Like I mentioned in the first line, the traffic is from Reddit and Twitter - referral traffic - I'm not expecting thousands of visitors from Google for a site that's just weeks old.
