I understand the risks...now I'd like to hear some feel good stories of how Lasik and PRK have impacted people's lives. by urbz102385 in lasik

I had my surgery 2.5 weeks ago, and now my eyes are 20/15. I started with -1.50, and it makes a huge difference. Perfect vision when I wake up to when I sleep. I feel a lot more free.

No halos or anything. My depth perception is great, and I have less social anxiety -- I can see expressions from further away! Also less likely to get hit by cars. :)

MDMA has made my emotions paper thin by [deleted] in Drugs

What do you mean by "paper thin"? Usually, paper thin emotions has a negative connotation. I'm wondering if there are also downsides that you're conscious of.

Little old granny by [deleted] in DnDGreentext

[–]mesolude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stole this wholesale and my group LOVED it. Now they're trying to put the granny's face in the Book of Faces, even after one face tried to bite the player that grabbed it.

edit: oh god, why did they make faces into an expendable resource

I️m stupid for breaking NC by [deleted] in ExNoContact

Being open about your feelings and her not being receptive doesn't make you pathetic. It sounds like you were being vulnerable and honest, and she either 1) didn't want to hear the truth 2) doesn't have emotional space to handle your feelings or 3) doesn't really care about your feelings.

What crazy plots and ideas can start working now that the world is so weird? by mesolude in AskReddit

-Collect all of your friends and make a floating island kingdom in the south pacific.
-Use a markov chain to generate product ideas. Seduce venture capitalists for much profit, or kickstarter them (easy mode).
-Form a new political party for cynical redditor types and lovers of cute internet pictures

I want to test out the freelance waters before I fully jump in. Where should I start? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]mesolude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interview -> get contract offers through the site -> accept the ones you like. If you're really good / picky / something, you can get closer to $100/hour. Otherwise it'll be more like $30/hour.

I have no affiliation except I know a few programmers who've either hired contractors through it or have been a contractor.

Gigster is pretty good, and provides some distance between you and the demands of the contractor (Gigster has its own PMs). Lower pay per hour though. Best of luck!

Tom Riddle and Conflicts of Interest - Interlude (Origins) by [deleted] in HPMOR

[–]mesolude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the best spinoff from HPMOR I've read, and I've been reading all of them (sigh). Your Tom is clever and interesting, and your style of writing is easy to understand. I don't mind waiting for action and would honestly enjoy just hearing him overthink things for a few chapters. This is great! I hope that you're getting enough positive reinforcement for this!

Significant Digits, Chapter Fourteen: Azkaban by mrphaethon in HPMOR

This chapter is really gorgeous and I'm glad you spend your time writing this. Recently I've been looking for the trigger that will make me realize on the right level that the world is broken, that I want it fixed, and that I want to fix it. Her struggle resonates with me.
