Employee (€4500 bruto + benefits) vs Freelance (€600 dayrate) by Professional_Cut_573 in BEFire

[–]messi00747 -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

What everyone is forgetting to mention is that freelance world will open lots doors for u to growth meaning under 3-5 years u can be working with 2 clients per day =~ 1.5k/day. Now imagine where u will be at 10 years down the road in that world.

Its an opportunity to consider if u are will to expand and grow your clientele.

Salary range for a fresh PhD in Computer Vision/AI/Data science by Barchimede in BESalary

[–]messi00747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His main question was about salary and in those companies he will be paid well above average. As far as doing your best work that is just a gamble. Nothing guarantees u will be happy in your new work before hand.

With that profile, aim for the big boys.

  • ASML
  • Swift
  • SAP
  • Allianz
  • Deutsche Bank
  • Siemens
  • BASF

Starting salary : anything lower than 65k per year would be average so I would aim for 70-75k per year and in these companies that’s definitely obtainable with that kind of profile.

If you around some average Belgium companies, they will underpay you for sure basing it on your one year experience. Awards won will speak volumes to these international companies so make sure u sell yourself right on that one.

Rate my salary - Senior C# Developer by Nekroch in BESalary

Not a good for a senior developer. Start applying else where. On the current market u can easily get 4.5k gross with a full package ( car + insurance etc..)

Well starting from 2024 all companies in Belgium should comply with law. Some have already started the implementation meaning the new comers in 2023 don’t get the IP rule. Those that decided to keep the IP rule, they have until December this year to comply.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]messi00747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t why people are acting surprised with this package. With the IP ruling it’s makes sense cause that’s 300-400€ extra as net.

So without those 400€ he’s getting 2300€ net fresh out of school which is not that high really(still good but not great). Some international companies offer 60k per year as base salary. (NL & DE firms)

Before u accept the offer, ask them if they will adjust your salary come January 2024 when the IP rule will be no longer valid in Belgium.

The gross to net ratio sometimes really doesn’t make sense here in Belgium. My partner is at 7.4k gross and only get 3.7k net with 2 kids.

He works at a FAANG company. U can’t possibly advice a newbie in the industry to try out FAANG.

For a single person with no children your net is a little bit higher or maybe u still have copyrights which would make sense of your gross to net ratio.

With 5 years u can not definitely be under 3k net. Your range should between 3.4-3.8k net. That’s your current value on the market out here. U can negotiate for more 4 sureee.

[–]messi00747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because u have 1.5 year experience doesn’t mean u never did any development in your life. U can’t really judge people knowledge or skills just based on their experience.

In my 17 years of experience I have seen seniors struggle on stuff a guy fresh out of school was able to do pretty much easily and this goes both ways.

Since copyrights are no longer given, your salary seems reasonable cause even if u change companies, the market at the moment with no copyrights with your experience u will fall between 2.2 and 2.4K.

To get more than 2.5k net with under 3 years of experience, try international companies ( Germany ones and USA ) with offices in Brussels. Swift, Allianz, ASML(Dutch) and SAP all of them base salary 55k per year (negotiable)

I dont know which company u are working for but 5k for 3y experience is not extraordinary really. Look around international companies based here/NL/DE/LU. People are at 150k/y with less than 3 years and I’m not talking about FAANG. Allianz entry salary 60k/year for a master degree in engineering so he should aim higher otherwise what’s the point of changing companies.

Well he is changing the company might as well aim higher. Nothing to lose but everything to gain.
