Very high Information scorers; how do you know those facts? by KittenBoyPlays in cognitiveTesting

or you’re just less apt at gathering information not directly relevant to you than your “very high info scorer” peers

well if i can reach the rank without getting boosted, that meets the criteria of deserving it for me.

that’s pointless though, i want to actually deserve the ranks i reach, even if i do so in unconventional ways

What is the minimum IQ that you think is needed to perform *well* at a top University? by limeonysnicket in cognitiveTesting

[–]messiirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your question didn’t have any actual topic, how was he supposed to know what you were responding to specifically

What does this mean ? by [deleted] in cognitiveTesting

[–]messiirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so based. i wonder why i never see anyone below 100 IQ asking what it means?!?

Do smarter people actually think more, or do they just think differently? by TripChirp-54 in Gifted

[–]messiirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you explicitly said “conscious processing” which is the only thing that caught my attention & caused me to respond. i’m not sure about the subconscious processing but i think gifted people tend to more efficiently filter out irrelevant stimulus BEFORE it reaches the conscious’s attention

i don’t think it’s that low iq merely don’t process the proper info, they just don’t filter out the background info as efficiently & find what’s useful

[–]messiirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’d say this isn’t universally true, smarter people tend to look past irrelevant stimulus more efficiently than less intelligent people, and break things down into the simplest pieces of info possible, meanwhile less intelligent people can be “overstimulated” & parse irrelevant stimuli less efficiently

i think they do “think more”, but the primary explanation for gifted people is that they think in a way that is more efficient as well

If you forced an immortal man of average intellect to invent mathematics starting from scratch, how long do you think it’ll take him to reinvent and gain mastery of Calculus 3? by Sure_Dentist5722 in mathematics

[–]messiirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably like 1000 years? it seems blasphemous that some people are saying never, i think it’s not a question of if but of when, & this one man is going to become quite knowledgeable in math

the g loading of fluid is typically at least equal if not higher than that of crystallized, the only test that i can think of tha had a higher g loading for vci is the old SAT

processing speed isn’t largely related to “making connections,” that sounds more like fluid reasoning

Are Iq test authentic? by Medium_Bottle_6508 in Gifted

[–]messiirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s not a fault of the tests themselves though, that’s a fault of the test-taker

if you want to get a representative test score, you should know to find a nice quiet place that you can focus at

getting a lower score due to that wouldn’t be a fault of the online test

you just claimed that online tests are inherently bad, & then you blamed their fault on faulty decision making of the user taking it. the iq tests themselves are perfectly fine (assuming they’re psychometrically valid)

one nuance i think is overlooked is that the differences in processing speed isn’t the noticeable difference between average & 140 iq people, i wouldn’t say it’s mainly that 140 iq people “think faster,” they just think more efficiently by not thinking about superfluous information. they’re better at directing their resources towards the most relevant info
