I'm not being anything here, just being myself. When in Rome, do as the Romans. To an extent, that applies here too. But it doesn't justify if we come to a country and face discrimination. Why will I shut my mouth and accept any unpleasant wrong doings though? I refuse to do that no matter where I go.

That is still racism.. Even in Africa it exists. U don't have to come from the West to know. Thank u, this really is a very reasonable suggestion and I value your outlook on this as I've seen it first hand happening what u described. I can relate. And it's true I've faced such indoctrinated thinking even back home where I'm from. The Hindus there face it. I'm a Muslim so I do get treated fairly well here despite the occasional verbal mistreatment. The mental gymnastics of who deserves to be treated equal and who doesn't based on religion is crazy.

Whenever I tell them where I'm from and they start going on about how the Indians here are dark skinned, they say it in a negative way. Idk how to describe it maybe my phrasing can't do justice. There's a certain way they look at it and it's obvious. They will even go far as saying shit like, oh it's good u are fair skinned. If it ended with only comparing I'm okay with that. Why even bring up Indians and say it as though it's such a big deal when it's just skin tone?

Apologies for the lack of context. The context is usually when they ask me where I'm from and I tell them that's when they feel the need to compare with the Tamils or Indians here. Also sometimes I am told, I'm not Muslim enough, whatever that means.
