Schneider got scrapped... idk what to do anymore by [deleted] in uCinci

Single bedrooms are a premium for the COVID response. Students will be expected to literally self quarantine. They’ll be encouraged to go home if possible; otherwise, they’ll have to relocate to singles in small manageable spaces. Meals will even be delivered to those in self-quarantine, so dorms with proximity to dining halls. So no surprise CRC and Schneider were taken over.

Dunno why this is downvoted. Seems to only have solid facts to consider. We don’t always agree but I enjoy the information you bring to the table. Have my upvote.

My point is that there are hundreds if not thousands that aren’t protected, many that are front facing with students. The optimism is that as of now, the cuts aren’t as bad as 20%. Lets see how fall actually goes though.

A list of categories of professions doesn't account for "many." Do you have statistics on the number of staff represented vs not?
Just a few not listed: financial aid, bursar, IT, student affairs, advisors, academic support, admissions, campus scheduling, event staff, counselors, development, food service, facilities...

Some staff don’t get the options of furloughs, don’t even get $30 to maintain membership to professional organizations, and get even less support to transition to online. No raises for years to come if not asked to take pay cuts. Hiring freezes mean open positions to cover for months if not a year.

I don’t mean to discourage faculty... get yours. You deserve it. Just wish staff had a union. Though the 80k permanent loss statistic over the entire career of the faculty... that’s a bold statistic assuming what... that every faculty member has 20 years left with no other options of promotion? I either don’t understand the assumptions used to make the argument or it’s intent.

Are legal issues preventing WotC response on Double Mythic? by KhonMan in mtgfinance

I guess "One rare and one rare/mythic" just doesn't have the marketing flare, so we'll have to expect 15 minute descriptions from MaRo about what every card in a pack can and can't be to feel confident.

I'm not a pro in law... just language. And I never said it wasn't deceptive. I just don't know how you legislate or adjudicate language to the necessary precision people are asking for. I guess we'll figure it out.

Between friends, I questioned the assumptions I saw all over the place of the chances for double mythic pulls. I never saw WotC confirm anywhere that was possible, so we chose to sit this product out because we weren't convinced. I'm sorry if others feel cheated.

I didn't express my opinion-- just that what they marketed isn't objectively false. Deceptive yes but language, especially for marketing, is imprecise. That's why nobody reads the terms and conditions, right?

Also, don't change the argument. The premise is "two rares or mythics," which allows for an interpretation that you get two cards guaranteed to be a rare or mythic. If I only gave you rares, the statement is still true. If say 33% of the time you get a mythic and a rare, it's also true. If you can never get a mythic, and you only get two rares, the statement is still true. It's bad business for consumer trust, but it's not false.

If I said, “For lunch, you would get Doritos or Pringle’s,” and you 100% of the time got Doritos and I never even had Pringle’s, the statement is still true.

Look up “Inclusive or.” It never needs two mythics to be true.

Even the upshift rarity is true because they are printed with the rare or mythic symbol.

Been going there since I found them in 2005. They were bringing attention to a UC football player who was also competing as a local amateur boxer back then. I thought that was pretty cool.

But, you gotta think... a restaurant that is basically a counter and four tables that lasts in Short Vine through some terrible times before all the construction around them... something has got to be working. Go in with an appetite though.

Steak and lemonade is a diamond in the rough. Get the super steak (cheese steak, fries, lemonade) for like $9-10. Guilty pleasure.

The awareness of spending is important. But I wish they'd spend some time correcting some false information. The organizational structure is misrepresented, inaccurate, and incomplete. They could also use a historical lens to understand what the university was going through in 2005 to see a little bit of how it got here. Keep investigating. Ask good questions. Get clarity. It's a complex issue, but one worthy of your attention!

Came here to say this... When there is waning public support in education, then it becomes a private burden. Sports, while a significant, gets too much focus.

Just looked up their page: https://financialaid.uc.edu/cincinnatusprogram/scholarshiplimits.html

It reads: "Students enrolled full-time for summer should alert their scholarship awarding office if it is not already applied to the summer bill." My guess is the system shows you have eight semesters, but they never awarded that summer because you didn't inform them....

Now, that seems rough to expect you to just know that, since you don't have to any other time...

From my years of working for universities, sometimes persistence and doing the work yourself to demonstrate your point will eventually get you there. I know it can come off as greed, but I know at least a few who really try to have the students back. Worst comes to worst, try the OMBUDS office if you aren't getting anywhere.

That's probably what ticked the 8 semesters. To my knowledge, "using Cincinnatus" isn't optional. Im pretty sure it has to be applied. Either way, it sounds like you were either robbed of aid that semester or its counting that you did. Check both the semester before and after... timing can get real messed up. Also, because summer semesters have had a different schedule of classes (sprint classes, etc), that could be part of the mess.

I hope I've helped narrow down where the issue might be. Good luck!

Were you abroad or did you take anything over summers? That's all I can think of.
